Wharton (UPenn) Vs Mendoza (Notre Dame)

Except when they are favorable to ND.

Not according to these (international) rankings:

[ARWU 2009](http://www.arwu.org/ARWU2009.jsp)

[THE - QS World University Rankings 2009 - top universities | Top Universities](http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2009/results)

I am no fan of USC. But to say that “EVERY ranking methodology you see ranks ND ahead of USC” is false and, not to mention, provincial.

I was talking about undergraduate rankings. And I also was not talking about international rankings, which are weighted heavily or almost exclusively to metrics based on graduate research, which benefits larger schools and ones that emphasize graduate research obviously. I am talking about something far more important for the UNDERGRADUATE, ie the quality of the school for undergrad TEACHING and the quality of the undergrad students. So those rankings are meaningless for people looking to get the best info about an undergraduate education.

You seem to have the unique ability to constantly miss the point and the big picture, a quality that will not serve you well in college and in the real world in general.

Nowhere did you specify “undergraduate” or “undergraduate teaching” rankings when you stated the following:

Seeing as I havn’t read his other posts, I won’t comment on your opinion of him. However, I must stress to you that BusinessWeek UG BSchool Rankings are an absolute joke. If you need any proof, just hop on over to the IB forum.

@frogster

this forum is about undergrad admissions and the discussions are focused on undergraduate comparisons. I think there is a seperate thread for graduate school comparisons. Thus, yes, I assumed when I made that statement that any reasonably intelligent person would be able to draw that logical inference. I can now see that was my mistake, as I cannot make that assumption with you.

listen up! i am a ND grad and current student at UPenn. even though i am bias since ND was my undergrad, mendoza is better. wharton students are so full of themselves. even if you dont have direct examples, you can just feel it in the air. instead of the alum saying they graduated from UPenn, they say they graduate from Wharton, not the university. ND students will not stab you in the back. ND is one of the only places I know where you can leave your wallet in the dining hall to reserve a table and your laptop in the library unattended overnight during finals and not have it stolen. when i was a freshman, i never locked my door! doubt you can do this at UPenn. And yes the alumni network is crazy impressive. i may seem a bit extreme with my views but as I study at the libraries of UPenn, I wish it was ND (either CoMo or Hesburgh library). GO IRISH!!!

Are you at Wharton for a graduate degree? If you are then that’s awesome. MBA?

Linkedin results for investment banking: Mendonza/Notre Dame: 142/469 Wharton: 1858…while I know IB is not everything, it’s usually considered more competitive. Mendoza is good, but Wharton is the best ugrad bschool in the world. Not on the same level at all. You can do whatever you want from either school but it’s a fact that Wharton provides more opportunities.

While Mendoza is a great school, there’s no competing with Wharton. It’s in a league of its own. The Wharton name itself is invaluable. There’s a reason why it’s recruited as heavily, if not moreso, as Harvard. It’s simply the best undergrad business school. The BW rankings are generally not seen as accurate as USNWR, so take that as you will. Any ranking that puts UPenn below any school is incorrect. However, I would choose Mendoza purely based on the social aspects of ND over those at UPenn. I hate Notre Dame (I’m a Michigan fan lol) but you can’t beat their school spirit, especially when comparing it to a school like UPenn. It’s apples and oranges imo. But if your decision is SOLELY based off of placement, Wharton rivals no one. It’s simply the best.
