ND Mendoza VS. BC Carroll

I got accepted to both, and they would cost about the same amount.
ND is more academically prestigious, and the overall ranking and business school ranking are better than BC's. However, I want to major in Accounting (and probably double major in finance), and BC was just ranked #1 by business week for undergraduate accounting specialty.
In terms of Networking, both has powerful alumni connections.
However, the location of the two cannot be more different; BC is close to Boston =) while ND is almost at the middle of nowhere. Does the location really make that big of a difference in a business major? If so, how much?
Also, both schools are pretty intense about their sport teams and religion. But I'm neither a huge sports fan nor religious....But BC tends to be more liberal comparatively..I guess.
Which one would you pick if you were me?
I really can't decide. So, I appreciate any comments.
Thanks a lot!

Also, is it possible to double major inside Mendoza?

I personally don’t think location matters too much, the big companies will come and recruit from both. You are able to double major within Mendoza or with other colleges. Double majoring is encouraged by ND. I would say the majority of students when I was at ND were double majors, including myself.

They are both great schools. Go where you are going to be happy. If you want to live in Boston…South Bend might not be the fit for you. Have you visited them both?

BC is in a bubble, much like ND. Granted, it is close to Boston, but it’s not so close that it’s “in the city” like some other schools are.

According to Public Accounting Report’s 2008 rankings, Notre Dame is No. 4; BC didn’t make the top-25 (BC was no. 21 the year before)

If you want to major in accounting, Notre Dame is by far the better choice. Not to take anything away from BC, but our program is ridiculous. I work in one of the Big Four firms and Notre Dame graduates are always sought after. ND is one of the few “priority schools” that students can basically go wherever they want, location wise. It isn’t a question of “will I get a job offer?”…it’s honestly more like “how many offers will I get?”.

Good luck with your decision…can’t go wrong either way. ND is a special place, though…no doubt about it.

thanks so much for all the advice! I think I will go to ND! FIGHTING IRISH!
