I am extremely interested in applying to Penn ED to either the Wharton, or Liberal Arts school. Out of complete curiosity, is it significantly easier to be accepted into Penn as an Econ major through the liberal arts school rather than Wharton? Also, to any Wharton admits, what were your grades/test scores throughout HS? My school is a gold medal high school, ranked in the top 300 out of 21,000 High Schools in the US. Due to our rigorous curriculum, I'm almost positive that the admissions board give us plenty of brownie points. We also sent around 30 kids to Ivy's each year.

Yes, it is easier to get into CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) as an Econ major than Wharton. I suggest you look at the 2017 and 2016 results threads, and focus on the ones who applied to Wharton.

You seem to be interested in the Huntsman program and Wharton so apply there. It would beseech you to follow your interests and not try to internally transfer. I wrote a post about this so I am including the link.

Don’t worry about the difference in the acceptance rates. For Wharton it’s under 10 percent for RD, so if you are set on Penn, apply ED. That should really help your chances.

Penn CAS is significantly easier. Rumor at CC is ~25% acceptance rate for CAS ED and ~11% for Wharton ED; however, I agree with above posters. I’d apply to the one you are more interested in. But if you are equally interested in both then of course go with CAS and you can still have access to some Wharton classes.
