Things admission committees look for in an business school applicant.

bump bump bumptiy bump

they look at an applicant's tongue color and eyelash length

Hilarious and very helpful. Now for some serious comments.

Dance skills.

If we knew the answer to this question, there would be a lot less people getting deferred/rejected from Wharton.

do u guys think wharton is the most selective program in the US

^In terms of pure admissions rate, no. Besides, programs like Huntsman and M&T have lower admissions rates than single-degree Wharton.

Based on my observations, Penn likes what every other school likes--motivation, intellectual curiosity, leadership, unique talents, serious community involvement. Too many Wharton applicants try to play up their high school "business experience", but honestly, they should just write about what they're interested in.

Also, keep in mind that there are no Wharton-specific admissions officers. The same admissions officers read applications for all four undergraduate schools.

NickBarr, that's actually incorrect, the same amount of people would get deferred/rejected since the school size doesn'y change.

The Wharton school wants to see diverse high school students with the potential to succeed. First off, make sure you have a strong gpa and SAT scores. You should also be well-rounded. You need to have clubs, sports, and community service. The essay is important because it tells the admissions officer things that a transcript cannot.

I was excepted early decision to Penn. I am a Black female with a strong gpa and so so SAT scores. What helped me out was my extracurricular activities (ex. National-caliber sprinter) and community service efforts (ex. Camp Counselor for disadvantaged youth). That set me apart from all the other applicants.

They want kids who will be the future leaders of this world.

They want candidates who are good communicators and can interact with people well; this can be seen via your activities and essays. I think it helps if you show that you are also practical as well as creative.

I'm putting down the fact that i run my own lawnmowing business on my app. what do you think of that?
