so im seeing a lot of people going in for actual interviews, but i got an e-mail from columbia with around 30 time slots on random days for phone interviews... is anyone else doing this? I live in Arizona so maybe I'm in the 'unreachable' region?

i got the same email today, and I am also from Arizona. The email said that there weren't any alumni in the area who interview, so i guess its good that we at least get a phone interview.

Columbia disfavors phone interviews; they're only supposed to be arranged if it's not logistically possible to do the interview in person. Maybe the interviewer is lazy. Not unheard of, but relatively uncommon. On the upside, at least you can do the interview naked.

^lol, ever tried this for in-person interviews C02?

Who said I haven't been on interviews for, um, "non-traditional" means of employment?

LoL, now that's a story we'd all like to hear C02, is that why you post at all times? business hours are non-trad?

I got a phone interview and a local interview. I thought about contacting Columbia about not needing a phone interview, but didn't want to come off across as not wanting to have a second conversation. I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Both were great - I got awesome vibes from both Columbia students/alumni.

im having a phone interview this wednesday. im an international and my interviewer emailed me and it turned out that he lived in the other end of the country, so there was no other way to arrange it. a bit of a shame though since I would much rather prefer a face to face one... ive already had one phone interview and two face to face ones, and i must say the face to face once are definitely much nicer.

My friend and I live in AZ and he got a phone interview. I still haven't received the email though :P

He said his interview only lasted like 15 minutes lol

i got a phone interview and it was really interesting. I actually talked to the senior class president from columbia's engineering school. It was really laid back, and I hope it went well. Kinda nerve-wracking waiting for the phone call though.

^^ Hahaha, a lot of us know who he is. Way to expose him :P

i'm pretty sure this was a girl.. maybe she was the junior class president.. but i am pretty sure she said senior.. Heather??

i had the same girl interview me! the senior class president from the engineering school. how funny.

Heather probably said senior because she'll be a senior next year when the class of 2013 rolls in. Heather is a friend of mine, she's cool and very laid back. she's been prez since frosh year, hasn't really messed up, she's been pretty solid throughout.

eek, i meant she, didnt mean the sex change :P
