Hi everyone! Course request sheets are coming out soon and I need to decide what AP’s I want to take. I want to take AP’s I know I will be able to ace in. I got one B last semester in Integrated Math 2+ (accelerated Math 2) and the rest were A’s in Honors chem, Honors English, History Spanish 2 etc. I’m interested in doing AP Lang, AP Chem or Physics, APUSH. I’m really stuck on doing either Chem or Physics because I heard the concepts in Chem are harder to grasp but the teacher at my school is really good and Physics has a not so good teacher. I also heard APUSH is just a lot of busy work but it’s not worth it so I need more opinions. Besides school, I do Crew (rowing) which practices 3:30-6:15 6 days a week so in general how much homework/ studying do these classes require? I could also go to either Integrated Math 3+ which will get me to Calc AB senior year but it’s not agreed they will fit enough trig in 3+ to be able to help us succeed in Calc or just go to Reg 3 and finish Senior year with Pre Cal I believe. So do I also take 3+ or just 3? I’m not the strongest in math but my grade has declined so much because of Geometry Proofs. If you need anymore details or have any questions please respond. Thanks!
Out of AP chem and physics, physics is much more math intensive. Considering you said that math is not your strongest, Chem would be a better option. It has a bit of math, but mostly just formulas to plug your values in and basic understanding of algebraic manipulation and logs to an extent. As for your math, I would suggest integrated 3+ then Calc AB, as it would look more impressive to colleges, and it would be a good idea to review trig the summer before Calc AB. It won’t be impossible to succeed, it will just take a bit of extra work. I wish you a great school year :)!
