Hey guys!
I'm kind of having some trouble here. I'm a rising sophomore and I've basically planned out all the Aps I want to take Junior and Senior year.

Junior- Ap Chem, Ap Lang, Ap US, Ap Calc Ab
Senior- Ap Bio, Ap Lit, Ap Calc BC, Ap French

My counselor told me that it would be a good idea to self-study Aps over this summer because I won't be doing much my sophomore year. I've already decided that I am going to study Ap Human Geography, but I'm not sure whether or not to do another one.

Would it be too much to study more than 1 Ap?
Next year I'll be taking World History and Bio, so I thought either Ap World, Ap Euro or Ap Enviro would be good options.

Should I just stick with one Ap, or should I challenge myself?

You can try AP Psych if you want. It’s really easy, and it’s just pure memorization.

only seniors can take the test at our school.

^You could always bribe the administration.

I think that if you like science (and current events), Enviro would be a good choice. It’s rather interesting to read about something (like natural sources of energy and the risks of obtaining them) and be able to connect it to a current event (one of the risks of obtaining oil is the risk of an oil spill, like the one in the Gulf Coast).

If you like history, I’d say AP World. AP Euro isn’t exactly synonymous with “World History,” unless your world history class is just “The History of Europe after the Reformation because Europeans were involved in 99% of history, anyway” like it is at our school. Check out the syllabus for your World History class. If it’s just European History disguised as a WH class, study Euro. If it’s a class covering thousands of years of history of the world (outside and including Europe), study AP World.

Our World History course covers basically everything. And it’s a perfect match to the actual Ap World Course outline.

I think I would be fine taking any of these 3, but I don’t want to put a lot of stress on myself.

which of these 3 requires the least work?

“only seniors can take the test at our school.”

If you really wanted to self-study AP Psych, I’m sure another school in your area would be willing to proctor for you. Just ask around.

I think doing EnviSci along with Human Geography would be good. They complement each other and are both easy to self study.

@Oomboo- I emailed my counselor, and she said the same thing. I think I’ll do Environmental Sciences and Human Geography.

Thanks for the help guys!

If you really wanted a challenge, try AP Physics B, but if you have no background or are not taking some Physics course at school, it is very easy to get VERY lost.

Enviro like suggested above would be a good idea imo. You could also easily pull off Psych, Enviro, and Human Geo if you wanted as the above posters already have mentioned.

I’ll check at a local high school to see if I can take the test there. Would I even have to study for Psychology, isn’t basically common sense?

Psych is not just common sense. You need to know the names of different theories of development and interaction and stuff. You definitely need to study a fair amount to pass. It’s not that ridiculously easy.

You should take AP enviro, I took the exam this year (self-study), and I’ll only prepped for about 3-4 days, and I’m expecting a five. In this case, I believe you can definitely do well without investing that much time- perhaps my perspective isn’t the best though, as I had a large science background going into the test. Still, you should consider it

I have decided I’m going to take all 3. Thank you all for the encouragement. I’ll learn it all over the summer, and review a couple months before the tests.
