Please include score too !! (I’m just trying to get an idea of what most people score on aps and what type they take)
There’s no one size fits all.
Top colleges want to see 4-8 APs or IB or Dual enrollment (/PSEO, Running Start) classes.
Among those, AP English Language is generally considered a must have, then add an AP history, an Ap science (one or more from bio, Chem, or or phys preferred, especially if aiming for stem), an AP math (calculus preferred, expected if aining for stem), AP foreign language, and then anything else of interest.
It’s not the number of AP s but how they align with your college plans and personal interests.
So a future stem major could have AP calculus, AP bio, Chem and physics 1, plus AP CS Principles and CS A, and only 1-2 AP in the humanities/social sciences. A future humanities or social science major could have AP English language and literature, AP foreign language, two AP history, AP econ and gov, AP art history or art, but only 1-2 AP math and science.
In addition to what @MYOS1634 says, be aware that the students on College Confidential are not a representative subset of HS students.
Thank you!
Haha yeah I know. I’m just extremely curious on what aps people have taken
Our school offered AP classes for history, English, Calc AB, and economics. My D took one in freshman and sophomore year, and two in junior and senior year.
It depends on what your school offers, and what your interests are.
What AP’s does your school offer? What are you interested in studying? The advice I gave to my son’s is pick the AP classes that most interest you since you would have a better chance of doing well in those classes. Also ask other students for recommendations especially regarding teachers.
My school offers all the APs for math, science, English, none of language and couple of the history. I would like to go into college a political science or history major with a minor in either biology and/or a language
