What are examples of worthy application updates to Harvard?

In the application portal, where you can directly upload materials, what types of updates would be deemed worthy and potentially game-changing?

I submitted a transcript from an Australian university where I took recent summer session (Jan-Feb) intensive courses. Since my intention to submit this was declared in my application and because the Australian academic calendar is different to that of the United States, I feel justified in using the document portal. However, I also used the portal to submit credentials that may help to verify my unusual background, which included a foreign government letter to update my citizenship status (I.e. I gained a citizenship after my application was submitted) and numerous identification documents. I’m not sure if the latter was relevant.

National/international awards, paper published, etc. I think would be of the few “potentially game-changing” things you could update them with.

FWIW: Once the Full Admissions Committee has completed their meetings, they send a list of accepted students to the Financial Aid Committee, which then calculates financial aid on every student that indicated they needed it (about 60% of accepted students). That process takes about a week.

So, working backwards, if you have an update of the magnitude that @Anonymoose3 indicated, you are running out of time. As such, you need to FAX AN UPDATE LETTER to Harvard Admissions ASAP, as paper spewing out of a fax machine piles up pretty quickly and demands immediate attention. Whereas an upload to the portal could take weeks to be opened and looked at.

Great. I think I have something worthy, and I will fax it!

Thanks for the advice.

Do you think it might be too late to make updates to our portals?

^^ At this late date, an update sent through the portal may not be brought to the attention of your regional admissions director until after all decisions have been made. If you have a significant update, you should FAX a letter so that it is brought to the attention of your regional admissions director today.

@gibby : Assuming that the applicant’s profile has not been placed in the rejected pile yes? I think it might be too late already.

^^ For most students, that’s probably true. However, Intel Science winners were just announced two days ago on March 15th. For those student’s, it’s not too late for a FAXed update, as they just received some impressive news. If their application wasn’t in the admit pile already, a FAXed update to Admissions would definitely change the trajectory of their application: https://www.societyforscience.org/content/press-room/innovative-teen-scientists-win-more-1-million-awards-intel-science-talent-search

I see. Thanks for the insight

I would call admissions and ask. It may very well be too late.

@holla1997 I’m sorry if this is hijacking but I just wanted to ask…
My synopsis+ first chapter was selected on the twentieth of March to represent Nigeria( 4 of us per genre, i’m sci-fi )to battle against other Africans’ for the cash prize and publication.
Should I inform them? @gibby @compmom

Wait… This is @Kyuutoryuu 's thread…
Sorry, I apologise for hijacking

@Oddenigma : I’d say send it through FAX like Gibby said earlier but don’t place high hopes on it. You don’t know if they had already looked through your profile or not so the material might or might not have any effects at all. Be aware of that. Also, unless it’s a huge achievement in national ranking, or something really significant, I wouldn’t bother sending it at all. Cheers!
