I’m deciding where to ED and I want to get into the school where I realistically have a chance but I am currently leaning towards Brown more although I don’t know if that would be a stretch? Let me know.

Can someone please reply and stop viewing this post and not answering great thx bye
I understand your frustration with not getting any response. But honestly, I’m not sure what you are asking. If perfect grades and perfect test scores don’t give you at least a realistic chance, what would? Your stats seem so perfect that I honestly wondered if this post was a joke. Someone with your scores and history should understand the statistics. You are clearly qualified to attend. But with admissions rates so low it is a reach for everyone.
If you have a specific reason why you think your application might hit a snag, maybe this forum can help. But otherwise, you have the same chance as every other brilliant student out there.

First off take a deep breath and relax, this is and will be a stressful time. Your stats, ECs, grades all make you a competitive Brown applicant.
No one however can answer precisely the question you understandably want the answer to…will you get in. You are likely in the 30-50% of the applicant pool that checks all the boxes as suitable for admittance. From there however it comes down to mutual fit.
Can you express what about Brown appeals to you, how you will contribute to the Brown community, what makes you unique, etc?
I never realized until actually experiencing the admissions process at Brown (and all competitive schools) just how personal and specific it is. The AOs are detailed, thoughtful and insightful which all becomes clear after the fact. The typical Brown student isn’t typical so describe your uniqueness. Of course ED will help your chances. If you express yourself and show passion you have a strong chance. Congratulations on all your successes to date!
Good luck and happy to offer any other help.
Your chances are about even between Brown and Dartmouth, but these are starkly different schools and you would probably be happier at one than the other.
Here are some of the differences to help you decide which is the better fit:
- Brown offers an open curriculum, while Dartmouth has distribution requirements (like most schools). This helps to ensure that you receive a broad education in the liberal arts tradition. You can do the same at Brown, of course.
- Some classes can be taken P/F at Brown. I don't think that's the case at Dartmouth.
- Brown is in a city, while Dartmouth is fairly rural. Are you a city mouse or a country mouse?
- Check their academic calendars -- the D Plan and Brown's calendar are likely different.
- Socially, both are known for party culture. But Brown is more crunchy/granola (and liberal) overall, while Dartmouth is more sporty and preppy overall. So -- different vibes. Dartmouth also has a robust Greek system, while Brown does not.
So those are five things that can help you decide which is the better fit.
They are similar in selectivity, so just ED to the one you prefer.
With regard to your chances, I’d say that based on your stats – which are only half the picture – you’re probably a low reach or a high match at either school. Any hooks would improve those chances, but nobody knows exactly how much.
thanks so much everyone! In terms of hooks, I’m afraid because I don’t have any… I won a lot of science awards? I
m also planning on cofounding a fundraiser with my friend. I don’t know- Dartmouth and Brown are both definitely polar opposities in terms of the student life but like when I visited Dartmouth I loved it but I haven’t visited Brown yet so I’ll just have to see. Thanks everyone again. If anyone can- what are some examples of hooks that Brown would like? Dartmouth?

Be genuine. Don’t think what do they want…tell them who you really are.
A cautionary note. Trying to “position” yourself will not end well. Unique, honest, pationate not hoping to tick the “what do they want” box.
Stellar grades without intellectual curiosity are actually a negative, ECs without leadership or commitment are a turn off, sports to support an application suggest bad judgement. Your question concerns me.
I will revert to my earlier suggestion that you be able to articulate clearly why Brown or Dartmouth beyond they are Ivy League schools. In the absence of that ability your chances become minimal.
Do you know what D-Plan is? One girl (she is international and admitted to Dartmouth this year – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fQ4TlZkBNk) in the video can talk about D-Plan and other stuff in her interview. From your posts, you don’t seem to know what you want and you are a bit “robotic”. A bit “in the box”. Your chances might really depend on other parts of your applications.
What can you bring to the school other than your stats? There was a very successful “night market” event at Brown’s Sayles Hall last night. More than 1000 people were counted at the door. Most food stalls sold out. Would you be able to show that you can contribute to the success of the events instead of looking like you are the one always goes to events just to eat? Your capability to show how you can contribute to the school and how you can benefit from the school could be the key to the success of your applications.
Your application is like a jigsaw puzzle. You have a few big pieces. But if you miss just one small piece, the puzzle is not complete. Only complete puzzles win admissions.
I am wondering what you are writing in your essays, particularly why XXX? Don’t waste time on your fundraising.
