What are my chances and are my colleges of choice realistic?

- Reason for Transfer -

Honest Reason: I love the mechanical engineering (ME) program at Penn State. It
is challenging and the professors are unbelievable! When I switched to computer
science (CS), I was dismayed that the CS professors were not of the same caliber
as the ME ones. I truly cannot name a single GOOD professor in the college of
Computer Science and I put in effort to engage with the profs. By transferring, I
am looking for a well known school in CS preferably in a city known for
breeding startups (and has a thriving LGBT community).

Ideal Transfer College: Stanford or UC Berkeley
Alternatives: UPenn, U of Washington, U of Texas-Austin

THANKS FOR READING AND HELPING ME OUT!!!!!!!! :D

Stanford is not realistic with those stats sorry. Berkeley may be possible but most of the kids applying to berkeley will have 3.7+ gpas. Unfortunatley you dont have any e.c’s that seem to stand out however your high school gpa is good. These schools will all be looking for exterior involvement outside the classroom along with a good gpa. I am a schreyer at penn state who is transferring out and applying to Upenn as well. I think you have excellent chanes for UT and UW however the rest are large reaches due to the gpa and ec’s. The schools may give you some leeway however because of your medical leave though. Be sure to write about it in your essays and make sure to distinguish yourself. Hope this helped.

Thanks Jake for the help!!! As far as my EC’s are concerned, I do have several out-of-school projects that I have taken on (one of which is a part time job designing a PCB and smartphone app for my old boss at Ingersoll Rand). Another project I am currently undertaking is prototyping an automated system capable of controlling the heating/cooling and lighting in my house (also controllable through a smartphone app). The reason I didn’t list these is that they are not part of any club or organization. Would this new information have any impact on the previous feedback you gave me? Thanks again!! :)
