Will brown accept me?

<p>Hello! I am currently in my senior year, and submitted my application for ED about 6 days ago. I applied to Brown mainly as an outreach school. I know this is pretty late, but I want to hear your opinions about my chances of admission at Brown. </p>

<p>Overall GPA: 3.66. There aren’t any class ranks at my school</p>

<p>SAT 1: 2120 (600CR, 790M, 730W)</p>

<p>ACT: N/A</p>

<p>SAT 2: Math 2C (800), Chemistry (700)</p>

<p>AP: Calc BC (5, AB subscore - 5), Physics B (4), Statistics (4), Language and Composition (3), Computer Science A (3). I just want to note that my school doesn’t offer Language and Composition and I took it without any guidance from my school.</p>

<p>Awards: 2 music directors’ award at my school, passed 2012 AMC 12A, passed 2013 AMC 12A/12B</p>

<p>Senior Classes: AP Chemistry, AP Art History, US Government/US Economics (unweighted), Philharmonic Orchestra, AP English Literature and Composition </p>

<p>Currently taking Multivariable Calc (Math 2E, 2nd part of the Multivariable Calc curriculum) at University of California, Irvine. I took the first part during this summer and received an A- </p>

<p>EC’s:
part of a tutoring club called nLighten at my school for 3 years
part of OCMC (Orange County Math Circle) for 4 years
joined OCYSO (Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra) for 2 years
part of a mini-orchestra which accompanied a musical held at my school
Church for 4 years- includes activities such as VBS, church orchestral performances
part of the UCI Summer Session for one summer</p>

<p>Some background info:
Even with all my music activities, I did not submit an art supplement for Brown mainly because of time constraints and my lack of preparation.
I performed pretty poorly in high school with average GPA of 3.4 in my freshmen and sophomore years, mainly because of bad health, which led me to adopt bad habits. Those bad habits still carry over today, but not as much. The effects of those habits are pretty minimal and I am now leading a MUCH healthier life. I obtained a GPA of 4.1 in my junior year, which is a BIG improvement for me, though it doesn’t exactly compensate for the poor performance in the first 2 years of my high school career. I want to see, however, if colleges would be able to see that sign of improvement. The same type of improvements are indicated through my past PSAT scores and SAT scores. I recently took the November SAT and I am waiting for those results
As for my CA essay, I talked about my experiences of attending a Chinese church. I am a Korean and personally never imagined myself attending such a church. However, I was able to ignore the ethnic differences between the members and me and eventually found my place in the church, forming a second family there :). </p>

<p>Overall, my interests are leaning towards Mathematics. I’ve been into the philosophy since my middle school years, and I am looking forward to studying the field in college.</p>

<p>someone please chance me :(</p>

<p>Like you surmised, it’s a reach. But what do random strangers’ guesses really do for you? You seem to have a good profile that will ensure you a successful collegiate career. Brown? Like you said, likely not. But hearing high schoolers tell you “you have an AWESOME chance!” is going to get you what?</p>

<p>Be confident. Even if Brown doesn’t confer your degree, you’re definitely headed for a successful collegiate career. Best of luck to you</p>

<p>The best anyone can do is say you are “in range.” When a school has a 9 percent acceptance rate and still as broad a range as Brown, only the admissions officers can give you a real answer.</p>

<p>I’ll say good luck though!</p>

<p>thank you! I am just really stressed out about college. Thank you for the kind responses :)</p>
