hello all,
i’m a junior in high school and i was looking to see what my chances are for colleges. here’s all the numbers at the moment-
unweighted gpa: 3.545
weighted gpa: 3.995
class rank: 127 of 403
i’ve been an active member of key club (a service based club) for the past two years and am currently in the club right now. i’ve taken 1 AP class so far (AP world history, i got a 3) and am currently taking AP environmental science and AP us history. The rest of my classes have been honors level. i’ve taken two years of spanish. i’m also a photography iii student as well as a film major at my school (it’s an art school where we’re given the opportunity to major in our art alongside our academics if accepted after an audition process) where i’m currently taking my second year of video production and film studies.
i want to study film in college and am obviously looking at all of the major film schools (USC, UCLA, NYU, Loyola Marymount, etc) and i was wondering if i had any chance at being accepted into any of them. i was also wondering if there’s any other schools i should be looking at. possibly ones where i have a better shot at getting in. i was mainly just looking for good film courses available in the west coast (mainly the california/seattle/portland areas) and possibly new york.
i also haven’t taken my acts/sats yet and was wondering if anyone has any tips. and any ideas what classes i should be looking at taking in my senior year? (i technically only need an english class (i was planning on the dual credit class we have available) and a government class (i was planning on AP Gov), but i’ve heard that we should still take a math class and science class regardless. the problem is that i’m awful at math (therefore don’t want to take AP Calculus and was looking at taking AP Computer Science) and i’m not too sure that i’ll be able to succeed in taking AP Bio.) should i be looking into getting involved in anything else (class wise and club wise)? what can i do to make my chances better?
any advice would be super helpful. thank you!!
