What are my chances at MIT?

I know this is another "What are my chances" thread, but bear with me.

I will be a sophomore in high school next year. I have taken and plan to take the courses that follow. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am awaiting my SAT results. I will be taking the ACT tommorrow :D

7th: Algebra I
8th: Geometry, Biology, and German I
9th: Algebra II, Chemistry, German II, World Regions, Honors English, Gym, and Engineer Drawing

10th: Math Analysis, AP Chemistry, AP World History, German III, English 10 cannot take honors with AP World because I'd have to take honors world, Computer Service and Support, Health, Java 1&2

11th: AP Calculus B\C, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science A\B, AP German, AP Literature and Compostition, Art\Gym to fill the graduation requirements =(, and Cisco Networking I

12th: AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP US History, AP Art History, AP English, US Government\Psycology, and Cisco Networking II

I am currently in the following ECs:

Track, Cross Country- varsity 9th grade, Boy Scouts - Almost Eagle, NJHS soon NHS, German Honor Society, German Club, Math Club

I am probably going to find a community service club to join, but I just moved here six months ago, still getting used to things. I may take a class at the University of Maryland once they recieve my paper work, exception to policy stuff. It is near impossible to participate in research projects around here being on a military base where community colleges are not available, although courses are. I hope things like this would be taken into consideration. I get all A's and I love to learn. The classes I am in right now are just too slow due to the ammount of seniors trying to get remaining credit to graduate. Maybe it's a little early to ask about this, but I'm worried because I've seen so many people that seem much more qualified for a school like this.

dude. you're a freshman. how is it possible to predict chances at this point?

While it is good that you are aware of the admissions world, you are in fine shape with your 4.0 and nice courseplan, but it is very difficult to gauge chances before junior year. Try to practice and do well in an olympiad of some sort (math, bio, chem, physics); I wish I had known about them sooner, and would've tried to advance in some of them. have a happy summer, and good luck on the ACT!

4.0 as a freshman means nothing. Half the honors students at our school has a 4.0

Also...what you did prior to 9th grade doesn't matter.

wow. Get out of here seriously.

Rutgers=reach

dude, you're a FRESHMAN, why are you worrying about colleges right now? anyways, although you are on the right track, you're not exceptional (since the only thing that i can really look at is the classes you plan to take, and A LOT of people are taking the same classes). but don't worry about it, you've got plenty of time...

That's the typical track for an MIT applicant.

Since it's speculative, we don't know how you'll stand out, and the way to get into MIT is to really stand out. Good luck, but seriously -- make some attempt to enjoy high school.

I am enjoying high school... I also love to learn and have a challenge. I really wasn't looking for got_rice's response there.. I found that a little rude. Is it that bad for me to ask if my plan is good or not? I'm just confused as to what exactly the people at admissions look for.

one piece of advice...

things never go exactly as planned because $h!t happens man. so just go with the flow for now. whatever happens is whatever happens. if you get into MIT, then great! if not, then too bad.

i must tell you now, your application is transparent. you are doing this for college.

i am probably the only one here who has done nothing for college

in fact, i probably wont even apply to college.

btw, if you take cisco networking you should apply it to real time. i would love to take that classs, unfortunately, im a Google scholar and learn everthing by searching google.

What makes you say I'm doing this for college? I do all my extracurriculars because I enjoy them believe it or not... I'm planning so many APs because I HATE sitting in class bored and doing nothng.. You can't imagine how many stupid seniors slow down some of the classes I am in >_<

I know what he means. I take the advanced classes to be around motivated and smart people. Extracurricular activities can be used to boost the application, but it's also free socialization.

Anyone can join a club, and it's free access to friends who are motivated to go to good colleges and do things.

Eagle Scout is fun, track is fun too, but math club? ehhh...

j/k its great that you enjoy your classes and E/C, but with the schedule you plan to take you will have a lot of hw/studying to do on top of all the ECs.

There's nothing wrong with a math club... Yeah I agree I'm going to have to see how the homework load is.. it really depends on the teachers though. I like to do other things besides school though, so I find my balance and go with it.

Math club is where it's at man lol!

Basically I've set my goals high, and I'm willing to trim some things off if it's too much. You don't really know until you're there.

don'g worry about MIT too much right now. Focusing on your high school grades, SAT's, and outside school competitions. Key things: try to do something great relating to math and science in the next two years (science fair, AMC, Science Olympiad, etc). MIT loves strong math and science applicants!
