What are my chances at Northeastern

I plan on transferring from a community college to Northeastern for fall of 2017. Before you ask, yes, my credits do transfer. There are 30 classes that transfer from my community college to Northeastern. I plan on going into the joint Computer Science and Business Administration bachelors. I am an American 19 year old white male. Here is some background:

Academics:

  1. GPA- 3.75/4.0 (weighted)
  2. Phi Theta Kappa- Honor society for those who have achieved academically in community college
  3. Classes I’ve taken that will transfer:
  • Calculus 1, Statistics, Biology, Macroeconomics, College Composition, Ethics, Web Development, History of World Religions
  1. I have not taken the SAT yet

Work:

  1. I have worked for a software company for the last year (20 hours a week). My responsibilities included:
  • High level programming in HTML and CSS. I was in complete control of updating and working on our websites
  • Low level programming in Javascript and Jquery
  • In charge of all software testing and social media
  • Search engine optimization for our company
  • Writing technical documents and spec docs for the company
  • Customer reach out

Extracurricular:

  1. I spent 2 and a half months in Brazil volunteering. My responsibilities included:
  • Taught english to adults. Completely created the material myself and organized the lessons
  • Worked at an orphanage for children with HIV/AIDS. Fed and helped them with school work
  • Worked at a daycare for impoverished children. Cleaned, bathed, and took care of the children
  1. Programming Club (this fall and next spring)
  • Worked on personal programming projects
  • Meetings with those in the programming world.
  1. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Club (last spring)
  • Volunteering with Greenpeace
  • Worked on personal projects (3d printing, drones, RC cars)
  1. Local Soup Kitchen (this fall and next spring)
  • Cleaning, cooking, and serving the homeless

I have never applied to college before so sorry if that was a lot, I don’t really know what to do. I would really love to go to Northeastern (I did a tour), but I have no idea what other schools might fit me.

If you attend a community college, you’d be considered a transfer student I believe, and not a freshman admission. In this case you would not need the SAT. Or are you a high school student who has taken classes at your local community college for credit as well?

I would be a transfer. I was thinking of taking the SAT as a way to improve my résumé. Regardless, how do my stats look?

I am not sure what they look for in transfers, maybe someone else can help out.

Northeastern doesn’t require SAT scores and some schools (like BU) may reject if you even send them SAT scores, but that’s what I’ve heard. Your bio sounds just like me, I have taken similar classes with the same gpa and similar extracirriculars, but I am not in the honors society. I think you will most likely be admitted, fingers crossed! Im sending an application for Spring 2018, keep me updated though if you get accepted!

OP and those who are saying not to submit the SAT please read this from the Northeastern website;

So if the applicant is applying before completing the 30 credits he is required to submit SAT or ACT scores.

@shenaiya And I cannot believe that any college would reject an applicant for sending in SAT even if not requited. That is ridiculous. At worst they would ignore the scores.

Oh no I meant they would reject the SAT scores aka they would not accept them, but of course no school would reject the student just for sending the scores
