Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

I think in terms of academics, you're in great shape to meet the academic requirements of Tisch. I think you should try the SAT and, to cinch the deal, take two SAT IIs and score well on them. Tisch, because it's a conservatory mainly, may be more forgiving in academics than the other schools (e.g. CAS and Stern), but maybe not. But keep in mind that, although NYU's total acceptance rate is around 30%, Tisch's acceptance rate is generally between 7-15% for its programs, maybe even smaller than 7% for some. For admittance into Tisch, 50% of your application revision is academic and 50% is artistic. You must be referred by both NYU in general and Tisch to be admitted into the school. So, even if you were to post some of your works wherever, it would be extremely difficult to tell whether or not you meet Tisch's artistic requirements...you never know what they're looking for. You should focus very strongly on your writing portfolio/audition and developing your writing, as well as keeping up your grades of course...all will play a part in determining your acceptance. Definitely focus on getting high ACT/SAT scores, getting good grades, and having a phenomenal artistic review. They will play a pivotal role in later possible merit (academic and artistic) scholarships from NYU...you're going to need them since Tisch is $50,000 and NYU's small endowment/large amount of students makes it normally not as generous with aid as other schools. You should also apply to various other conservatories, since most have low acceptance rates. Hope that helps!

Dude you can't be serious. Those stats just aren't gonna cut it for Tisch. You should have done A Lot more ECS. You had better hope for a miracle man........

Good Luck!! : )

I've always heard colleges do not want a laundry list of EC's, but it depends on how passionate and active you are about them. Instead of joining every possible EC I can, I like to focus on a few and give my time and effort to them. Also, I live in a town where our HS has 200-250 students. I have not been given the gift of a large selection of activities. Our HS doesn't even offer AP classes.

Steven is joking, btws.

Ah,alright, lol. Got me worried there for a minute, lol.

Good friends' D got into Tisch- film studies. Not that many ECs, but great grades (private Catholic girls school) and SATs 1450/1600. She had a knock out of an essay, though. This was required.

Tisch loves talent, plain and simple. Mediocre grades and scores can easily be overshadowed by exceptional talent. There's a reason its the best school for its category.

Part of what Aramin says is true...Tisch is probably more forgiving than, say, Stern or CAS with grades and test scores because the artistic review is a crucial factor. But you should still keep up scores and GPA, because that might be a deciding factor between you and someone else with the same amount of artistic ability. Also, if your grades and test scores are considerably lower than the avg 3.6 (3.2 and lower for GPA, for instance) worry about being accepted at all academically unless you have stellar test scores, tons of AP courses, and a good essay.
