yes, this thread is over a year old. i dont care

some private schools do rank, thank you very much

i'd love to hear if chowderhead got in to USC film school (i'm applying there now)

and from my experience of trying to film a 20-minute piece at school, i wish everyone else better luck, because i ended up maybe $100 in debt to a teacher (i don't know exactly how much, she didn't follow my instructions and got a smaller thing than she was supposed to), and the day shooting was to begin, my lead actor quit. never came together. i don't think the film club even survived into this year.

I think you have a chance just academically at nyu, but at this point it all depends on your portfolio. UCLA out of state is no way. besides, ucla makes you re-apply to the film program your junior year and there is a good change you'll get rejected and stuck there. Emerson you will get into, same with wisconsin (apply early). But the first poster was right that you are applying to a lot of state-schools that do base a lot of stuff on stats and are not as friendly to out of staters. good luck

btw, spielberg didn't go go to USC ever. he applied 3 times and was rejected. 3 times. however, he is on their alumni board because he still gives lots of money to the school who never wanted him.

As far as not affording a video camera, there is no where in the film portfolio description that says you have to do a video. You just have to show you have a creative bone in your body. It can be a photo portfolio or drawing portfolio if you want it to.
