In college I plan on being an English Major but I'm afraid that my Math score will keep me from getting into a great school. I've taken the SAT several times with similar results, this is my combined score...

600 - M

I think PETA is application-worthy.
I mean, why not?
I'm vegan, I hand out pamphlets, I protested against dissections (lost 5-10% of my grade), and I put up flyers...
Doing such things takes extra effort, says something about who we are and showcases our altruistic nature.

If you have taken the SAT more than 3 times, Harvard probably will frown upon your application. A lot will depend on your SAT 2's. Hopefully you have been preparing this summer. If you do well (over 730 on all of them) and you have not taken the SAT more than 3 times, you have a decent shot at all of the schools. If one or both of these conditions are not met, you have a good chance at the UC's and lower tier ivies (Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, Columbia) and virtually no chance at higher tire ivies (HYP).

hmm...it would be my 4th time....my scores never changed :(
whenever one section went up, the others would go down...
and Math has been a static score...this is very depressing.

I'm not sure how I could have done so poorly on this test!
Especially the Verbal and Writing sections, those were supposed to be my 800's.

ur GPA is terrific, and ur SAT scores are above average. all the schools ur looking to applying though are extremely hard to get in.

I think getting the SAT up would help alot. That seems to be the main weakness.

I'm not sure if this will change anything, but next year my friend and I will start the GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) at my private school. It is something we have been wanting to for the past year; however, our proposal was shot down last year. Luckily, we've become good friends with the Student Activities director :)

I also plan on starting the Campus Greens at my school, it just took a while because I needed support. Sophomore year I didn't have much support because most people saw me as a Animal Rights zealot when I protested against dissections (I lost 5%-10% of my grade) , and refused to comply with our school's dress code which requires that we wear leather belts. My Junior year was spent participating in several clubs including the Social Awareness club (Socialist Club) and Creative Writing club which gave me the opportunity to write a nihilistic piece (at a Catholic school)...

I think I finally have the respect and support necessary to start such a club for my school's progressive youth...I've also contacted the Green Party about establishing a branch at my school in order to educate the general youth populace...

Honestly, I believe your admission will hinge on a school seeking diversity. I know from my school, Mexicans and other hispanics are sought after. I honestly don't think another club is necessary. Focus on a fabulous application!
