What are my chances at UGA?

i’m a senior, one of my top schools is University of Georgia.
I plan on applying early action. My ACT super scores to a 26 and my GPA is 89.6 weighted and 88.5 weighted. i took 3 APS. What are my chances and will early action and being from NY help me out?

88.5 unweighted*

@astang24 google Common Data Set for UGA and look at section C. That gives you a good idea of the grades and scores you need. Being from NY, have you thought about OOS tuition.

Are you prepared to be full pay at UGA? They only offer Pell grant for aid and merit scholarships mostly goes to instate students. Either way UGA will be reach. Its getting harder to get into because of the HOPE scholarship.

yeah the $29,000 + room and board is not too bad. i really want to go there. i go to a top 500 HS and took tough classes as a senior so i have a shot getting in early action?

i am taking AP Stat, AP GOV, Calculus and physics this year

not a slam dunk…good luck

yah 26 is not too hot. I would try and work on that

Good luck! Unfortunately, your test scores will impair your chances. Last year, the average UGA recalculated GPA was 4.11, the average ACT was 31, and the average number of AP/IB classes was 8. Each year, these stats get higher and higher as more people apply. I have never heard of anyone being denied early action, so you will be able to use essays, recommendations, and extracurriculars if you get deferred and decide to fill out the rest of the application. Though you still have a chance, it will be very hard for you to get in, and it is hard for even the best of students to get in. I would highly suggest signing up for the December ACT either now or after hearing from UGA if you are serious about UGA. Once again, good luck!

I’d say not great - especially OOS. Make sure you have some good safeties.

I am in the same situation GPA wise but I have a 28 super score on ACT and 5 AP’s. I would say you should apply regular if anything. I’d say our GPA is at the bottom of the averages. I’m working on bringing it up this first semester of senior year and I’d hope you’d do the same. Good luck!

@harblair Hey, you never know! I just got in EA with a lower than average GPA so anything is possible!
