What are my chances at UPenn, UVa, G'Town, Notre Dame, Richmond, UNC and Pitt?

Hi,

I am a senior in Raleigh, NC and I wanted to know, based on my stats, what my chances would be for the following schools. I would say UVa is probably my top choice right now.
Pennsylvania
Virginia
Georgetown
Richmond
Notre Dame
North Carolina
Pittsburgh

My stats:
GPA Weighted: 5.00 (AP's earn up to 6 quality points, Honors earn up to 5, regulars are 4)
GPA Unweighted: 3.92
Class Rank: 3 out of 482 (Top 1%)

Courseload: Including this year, a total of 11 AP/IB courses. I am also taking Calculus III at NC State this year.

SAT Scores:
Critical Reading- 630
Math- 800
Writing- 680
*These are December 2009 Scores. I retook the test on Nov. 6, 2010 and don't have my scores back yet.

SAT Subject Tests:
Math Level II- 800
US History- 760
Physics- 640

Extracurriculars (The ones I'm most passionate about):
DECA (11,12)- Chapter President, 2010 State Finalist in Business Law & Ethics, 2010 National Conference participant, 2010 Marketing Math Test Top Ten in State
Roller Hockey (9,10,11,12)- Playing recreationally since sixth grade at least 3 hours per week. I founded/am captain of my high school team.
Coaching Roller Hockey (11,12)- I have coached several youth teams (including a travel team) and a goalie clinic detailed below. This is usually 3+ hours/week and is non-paid. This is probably the activity I am the most passionate about and is the focus of many of my essays.
National Honor Society (11,12)
Latin Honor Society (10, 11, 12)

Community Service: I have totaled over 100 hours doing things such as ushering at church, working concession stands at school sporting events, tutoring, and volunteering for various events. During my sophomore year, for my grad project, I wrote a booklet on pancreatic cancer to raise awareness and provide information and I handed them out at local libraries.

Work:
Lifeguard, May 2008-Present. This is a summer job.
Goalie Clinic Coaching, Sept. 2009-Present. I started a goalie clinic on Friday evenings for young hockey goalies who needed help/practice. I am now the go-to-guy at a local rink for private goalie lessons.

Awards/Honors:
National Merit Semifinalist. Will not find out finalist status until February, but 90% of semifinalists move on.
GPA 4.2+ Honor Roll every semester of high school.
All-A Honor Roll 9th Grade.
See above for DECA awards.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome. Thank you and please post!

Any comments or suggestions? I will chance back if you want me to!

Your scores definitely need to go up for places like UPenn, UVA, and Gtown. Your ECs are very strong and it will probably depend on your essays. If I were you, I wouldn’t send the Physics SAT II unless you have to (I know Gtown asks for 3).

crmichi- points well taken. I know that by looking at raw score to scaled score conversion tables my scores should have been higher but oh well. I think I did a lot better on the essay this time and my reading score should improve as well.

I know Gtown and Penn require all scores to be submitted but other than that I will take your advice about the Physics score.

Any other advice out there??

Might look at Holy Cross-very good school comparable to Richmond, Notre Dame, Georgetown. HC has very nice campus 1 hour from Boston and like ND has a good mix of academics and athletics. Holy Cross is SAT optional and easier to get into compared to Georgetown and ND.

par72- thanks for the post. I did some research on CollegeBoard and HC looks attractive but unfortunately does not have my intended major- Business or International Business.

HC has a well regarded economics/accounting program which is functionally equivalent to a business degree.

I see. What do you think my chances are at the schools I listed though?

You should get into all of the schools listed. My son attends UVA and loves it down there, You have comparable stats to him. He got into many of the colleges on your list.

hc also has great alumni network in the business community.
