I am number 11/420 in my class at the number 66 ranked high school in all of Texas. I am my International Thespian Society President, I have been in 9 plays (6 leads), I am a mentor at my school, I am in NHS, I have 200+ hours of community service, and I was in football for 6+ years until my parents pulled me out after a mild concussion. I take as many AP classes as possible (currently an AP scholar with distinction but I still have more to take so that is subject to change) and my unweighted GPA is 3.977 and my weighted GPA is 3.911. My SAT scores are around 1900-2200 and my ACT scores are around 30-35. I am phyiscally in shape but not where I want to be as I will be training more and more. I can do 60 push ups in a minute, I run a mile in 7:00-7:30 min, I can do about 80 sit-ups a minute, and I have no clue about the basketball throw. I plan on increasing all of those. Am I a decent and competitive canidate for West Point?
Yes. Can you do a different sport at your school? Or train for an out of school event like a triathlon or half marathon? Something that will test your mettle. Are you a scout? The service academies like Eagle Scouts and Boys State; can you make those?
I’d say think, too, about why you want this. Having a persuasive narrative will go a long way toward getting in.
