What are my chances? Black Ivy League College Grad Applying to Law School

Ahh..

I'm from a Top 4 Ivy, 3.3 GPA, AA female, fluent in a foreign language. Haven't taken the LSAT.

Hoping I can ACE the LSAT, planning to take the October test, and saving up money for an intensive Kaplan course. What are my chances? I'm just really scared about my low GPA. Is there a GPA cutoff? Finished college a few years ago. So I really need to ACE this LSAT. It's April now. I'm doing flashcards everyday.

I would love to go to Harvard/Yale/Columbia for law. I'm just worried about my low GPA. I think the only way I can validate myself is if i ACE this LSAT. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

The major GPA does not matter. No one can truly access your chances without any LSAT scores. Your gpa will be a challenge for Harvard/Yale.

I would recommend seeing the pre-law advisor at your school who will be able to show you the grids as to where students from your school were accepted to law school.

While as a black female, you are a URM, most of the black students attending law school are black females. Black males are still woefully under represented.

Thanks!! Yeah I will contact the prelaw advisor for more info. I really need to ace this test. I bombed a few science/econ courses and it murdered my GPA. So scared right now. I really want to go to law school but people say when you can’t get into a TOP law school then it’s not worth going! So stressed right now.

According to this you need to get at least a 170 to get a legitimate shot at a T14 school, Cornell.

Does anyone know the acceptance rates when applying ED to a T14 law school? Some T14 schools offer the ED option, like Columbia, Northwestern.

Maybe applying ED would be better for me instead of getting wait listed and/or rejected everywhere.

Wait, so being an URM male makes you more desirable from an admissions standpoint than an URM female?

bottumsup,

You are making your self crazy because no one can really give you any accurate information without scores. Northwestern will be a reach without work experience.

Yes, AA Males are the most underrepresented in college professional schools. An AA male with great grades and scores will have a much easier time than other URMs (male or female).
