I have recently applied to the University of Florida. I currently have a high school GPA of 3.8 and my sat score is a 1150. I participate in the lacrosse team at schoool and I am a member of the Leo Club. What are my chances for being accepted into the University of Florida?

your gpa is very good, but your SAT is pretty low for UF. . the average is a 1270 I believe.. but if you have excellent recs and a great essay you def. have a chance

No, I just met with an admissions officer their. 1270 maybe a full scholarship for instate florida students but it does not have anything to do with UF. They weigh everything from a 1200-1380 the same.

The kids in my school getting in ED to UF tended to have higher test scores but gpas like yours whereas people with lower test scores with simliar gpa were rejeceted/deferred. They put a lot of weight on SAT, I think it is often the determining factor. What other schools did you apply to?

No one got into UF ED with lower than a 1200, RD1 decisions are out today at 5PM online so as long as you applied before Oct. 15 you know tonight. The 1200 minumum isn't susposed to be there for RD but we'll see if thats true tonight I guess.

I dunno what my UF GPA is but my high school is 4.0 unweighted, 5.1702 weighted, SAT 1440.

I also got into UM already so waiting to hear from my april schools. I dunno how it is with everyone else but basically I'm in a dilemna: either free ride in state or insane loans out of state (if I get in)

the honors program is for freshman and sophomores at UF, to qualify u need at least a 1380 SAT and a 3.9 UF GPA. When u get ur acceptance letter, they inform u if u've been invited to apply for the hons program based on what u submitted when u applied. The app is online at www.honors.ufl.edu. For the program itself, u get to take 1 honors class each semester, usually for the first 4 semesters. U can take more then that but Ive heard the honors classes usually mostly full after each person picks 1 class. After that, u can pick another from whats left if u want. The honors classes cover the same material as the regular sections - the only difference is that its limited to 25 or so students and its noted on ur transcript that class was honors. You can also live in the honors dorms at Hume Hall (which is their newest dorm, I visited b4 and think its pretty nice - its doubles with a shared bathroom between 2 rooms, common living areas, and a common kitchen for each floor.) There are also honors classrooms in hume hall so if ur lucky and get a class there, all u have to do is walk a couple of mins from your dorm to that class. I think ppl in the honors program also get special advisors, research opportunities, and can participate in an honors organization. Other than these perks, everything else is just about the same.
