What are my chances for CCNY (City College of New York)?

Hello, CC!

I'm a US Citizen studying in India, applying for a Computer Science Major. SAT 1970, ACT 29. If a list of ECs would help, then let me know.

I'm really interested in CCNY, mainly because of New York, and it's low fees. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

Thanks!

What is your uw gpa? If its above 3, I would say yeah, your pretty much in.

Thanks for your reply!

Well, GPA isn’t calculated in India, so I can’t really give you an answer to that. :(

But with these scores, it’s safe to apply? Of course, I am applying Stony Brook and other places too, but I need a safety, right?

Yeah, though I think studying in NY can get pretty expensive, I hope you have the financial details worked out.

Hey sahil!
Anmol here
XD

Hey Anmol. :stuck_out_tongue: Any thoughts?

Yeah, thanks @boby! I am in need for aid, so I am applying to private colleges as well. But I’d like to have an option where I’d get in most likely. Do you think that applies?

I believe they are asking for your grades; City College has no auto-admit plan that does not rely on grades.

IIRC the only one with such an auto-admit plan is UMO (Missouri) - and you’re an auto-admit at Missouri.

@Cateria - I’m not following you. Could you elaborate? I don’t see how it’s related to what I was asking. I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding! Thanks for your reply

Whatwhere your 10th grade/Year X/IGCSE results?
City College may admit you, but if you don’t have enough money to attend, what good is that to you? They recently built a new dorm, so check out cost of housing through that, otherwise rent in NYC is crazy (I mean, your parents’ stated yearly income wouldn’t suffice to pay for the rent of a studio in the neighborhood where CCNY is located).
Send your application for housing within the hour you’re admitted, too.

I got 93% in Tenth ICSE.

Thanks MYOS!

CCNY: Safety
Stony Brook: Low match

Okay, then CCNY will ask forthe 10th ICSE and you’re in with that score.
Look for scholarships - they have an honors program with scholarships I think.
You can compete for Macaulay too (deadline: Dec 1) but I think you’d need ACT 32 - it’s a full scholarship accross all CUNY colleges and it has amazing opportunities so it’s very selective. You can always “try”, and if you’re not admitted into Macaulay you’re considered for your favorite campus anyway.

@Catria - Is it? Alright, thank you :)

@MYOS - Great… I was thinking of that as well. Thanks!

Alright, so basically I can apply for Macaulay, if I don’t get in, with the same form I’ll be eligible for the City Honors, and if not, normal admission. I just need to get it in by Dec 1st. Am I too late?

You should be in at Stony Brook. I got in yesterday and I had only 67% in Maharashtra HSC 11th lol… Stony brook admissions is a joke

Seriously, abhi? Would you mind elaborating on your SAT/ACT scores and ECs?
