<p>I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA and got a 1411 on my SAT. I am from Canada and go to highly respected Catholic High School near Toronto. I was elected Head Boy in the students council for this year, and i also went to China this summer for the Global Young Leaders Conference. What are my chances of getting into Duke University?</p>

<p>I disagree with Cast. Your SAT is perfectly fine. However, I want to know your weighted GPA before I make a call. If its above a 4.5. You should be pretty good. Also, your ecs are somewhat narrow. Do you have any community service?</p>
<p>I play school basketball and baseball and volunteer at a local hospital. I have over 100 hours of community service. I dont know how to calculate my weighted GPA, can you help me out?</p>
<p>I've taken 4 years of math and english, as well as 2 years of AP calculus,biology and physics. I also am taking AP calculus. I took law and a business course as well.</p>
<p>well, weighted is different at every place. I guess youd just say your school doesn't use weighting. Its definately worth applying. You're the first person ive seen with an sat not in the tens. I've seen 1410s and 1420s but never a 1411.</p>
<p>1411 is just not possible, so I assume you mean 1410. That's below Duke's average, along with your GPA (which you have stated places you around the top 25%). I don't know enough about you though. Could you please provide some more information?</p>
<p>yes 1410, sorry. That was my practice SAT. I'm a junior now, so i write the real one next year of course. I'm not sure what percentile i'm in, in terms of my grades in my class. Duke recommends that you have a 3.5 gpa. As for TheKillerAngel, i play school sports and volunteer at my city hospital regularly, i am doing GYLC this summer in China, and i'm the elected Head Boy (same as class president) for next year in the student council. I like to think that i'm very well rounded</p>
