hi everyone, i’m a rising junior. I have a 4.0, 4.35 GPA and am a straight a student so far. I’ve taken mainly honors courses as well as a few standard courses (bible, pe, marketing, latin, art). I also took AP Gov sophomore year and got a five. Junior year i will be taking DE apologetics, DE Psychology, AP US History, Honors precal, Honors Physics, Honors English 11, and Latin 2. My extracurriculars are science olympiad, SGA officer, founder and editor in chief of high school newspaper, volunteer in activities department of local nursing home three times a week for 1-2 hours each time over summers, volunteer baker one a week for local assisted living, 56 hours of volunteer work in hospital, runs a study blog w posts original posts (not just reblogs n stuff you know, if you can even count this haha), and red cross club. I have not taken the ACT yet, but on the pre ACT I was predicted to get a 30-33 so we’ll see. I really want to attend George Washington University, NYU, Baruch College, and maybe apply to Georgetown and Columbia as well? Regardless of other schools, GWU is my first choice. I have several other schools in mind, but those are my favorites. Thanks so much, and sorry for any typos.
You have a good app lined up, and here’s my $0.02:
You have a genuine shot at Georgetown/Columbia. I don’t know what your interests are, but if you don’t apply to those, you’re limiting yourself. If you keep kicking butt like this, I could see you with a competitive shot at both of those and pretty much no matter what you’re doing they’re just in a different league than all the others.
You’re in good shape as somebody who hasn’t even started their upperclassmen years yet!!! Don’t fret. Focus on maintaining your awesome GPA, and if you can get in the 30+ range on your ACT, you’re in a great range for most every school you’ve listed.
I’m a current GWU student, so if you have any specific questions (especially if you’re interested in international affairs or other political oriented majors) feel free to use me as a resource for information.
