Hey everyone,
I’m currently a junior interested in going to college for engineering. My top schools right now are UPenn, Cornell (would apply to CALS), and other Ivy’s. My SAT score is a 2260, ACT 35 and I have 800’s in SAT 2 Chemistry and Math II. My gpa is around a 4.0 (96-97) unweighted and I will hopefully be a national AP scholar by the end of this school year. I’m involved in clubs such as speech & debate, mathletes, science olympiads, and national honor society/spanish honor society. I am involved in science research and have taken 2 summers so far to conduct research in science and engineering. I hope I stand out in my college application process because I scored a 5 on Calc BC as a sophomore and have taken numerous science AP’s. What are my chances for getting into these colleges? Any critiques? Thank you!
So, although it’s phenomenal by any standard that’s not ivy, I wouldn’t report that SAT. Stick with the ACT, but a nearly perfect GPA and 35 ACT will put you in running for the norm at all the Ivy leagues. Although, as you’ve probably already read, nothing in the Ivies is guaranteed and sometimes even the most qualified candidates get turned away. If you were to apply to Brown, Columbia, Cornell, and Upenn… I can all but rest assured one will bite. What’s your ethnic/economic background (if you don’t mind me asking)?
@gatorgirllala I’m South Asian (Indian). I guess you could say I am from a middle-upper class family. Seems like this combination only harms me lol
@lolmonkeyz1 I’d be more worried if you were an upper middle class white male ;)) In all seriousness, with those kinds of grades and test scores I still don’t anticipate a lot of rejection letters regardless of socioeconomic status.
