Please chance me!

well noone will ever say youre “in” but, if there ever was someone to get into harvard, youd fit the profile

Holy mother…you are the President of a class of 14000??? That is intense to say the least. Pretty impressive. I would say you are on track for not being immediately rejected. Haha I know that is not what you want to hear exactly, but when it comes to schools like these, few people are ever “in” when judging by stats alone. I think you have as good a chance as any though:)

class of 14000 ;/ hmmm i’m not gonna say anything

CR and W scores are too low…unless you’re an URM

^ Don’t listen to CCers who say stuff like that. no offense, but SATs are really important, and yours are fine.
This is a quote from the Harvard SCEA 2016 thread. well its a quote that was quoted in there lol. from a Harvard alum and interviewer…

Adding a quote from what 1987Crimson said:

But people with mediocre grades (3.3 or lower) and SATs below 2100 are generally not going to be competitive.

Edit: there are 14000 people in my county, not school-sorry for the misunderstanding!!!

^ Yeah, haha, there is no high school in the US with that many kids.

I would also point out that you might want to emphasize your other interests besides math. I see that you were the president of the break dance club and have cool music and art awards. Stuff like that makes you sound cool and interesting. Places like Harvard get about a billion applications every year from Asians who have 800 math SAT Is and IIs and are AIME qualifiers. Your stats aren’t going to be as good as theirs. But you can still beat them. They want people who not only have that kind of talent, but that will add to the campus atmosphere, which I think is how you should try to sell yourself to them.

KaChow, thank you for your encouragement! It just so happens that i am an asian male though! Do you think an art supplement of art slideshow and a break dance video will be convincing?

You’re obviously a VERY competitive applicant, and you do offer a unique perspective by doing break dance club. I see you’ve written a book. Was is widely published? What I’m looking at is the major awards. On the whole, you’ve got a great chance somewhere between 15%-30% maybe even higher. It’s a little unnerving competing against people like you for a spot in Harvard. Did you apply SCEA? Anyway, good luck to you, though you don’t really need it. I’d appreciate it if you’d chance me.

^ Haha, yes, it’s totally fine that you are Asian, that’s not really what I mean. What I mean is, you want to show that them that you, while Asian, are not a “cookie-cutter” Asian, i.e. math genius, perfect SATs, violin or piano for their entire lives, and most importantly, not really that much else that is special. They see those all the time. What they don’t see is the math genius who break dances, does art, writes books (Did you really do that? Is that published and everything? Sounds awesome), and other things that show that you are an interesting applicant who will add to the Harvard community.

And yes, absolutely send in a break dance video, that would be awesome :)

You need to take an SAT II in another area.

The Harvard website actually says,
“To satisfy our application requirements, applicants must take two SAT Subject Tests. Students should not submit two Subject Tests in mathematics to meet this requirement.”

What are you planning on majoring in? If it is a math, scientific, or engineering field, consider MIT.

As far as Harvard, it is a crap shoot. Nothing is ever assured. Same with Yale, but you should get into Stanford. You are a solid applicant though. Best of luck to you.

it looks like ur into math, harvard does not have the best math or science based competitive ranking. look into mit or ucb or other top engineering schools, unless ur into law

LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Good chance. This is a unique story.
