What are my chances for ivies?

I am an international student with 4.0 gpa in top school with most rigourous score. My SAT is 1580.
My passion is STEM and I have always achieved top grades for them, as well as taken part in all the maths and science competition available and was placed semi finalist in some of them. I organised a math camp for students and tutored them maths too. I was a nominee for my country’s top science award and I have done a couple science research projects and worked with professors. I am also part of maths club and I had an internship in my country’s top science agency. What are my chances for ivies?

Bump

Your chances are similar to many others who apply to top universities. Your EC’s look good and your GPA and SAT is also good but your chances are around that 5-10% shot of actually getting in because it is SO difficult.

Good luck anyhow!

You are in the range of admission, but their admission rate is low while most of the applicants have similar stat like you. Think about what can make you standing out from others.

I think your chances are a little higher than others are saying. The 1580 SAT helps A LOT! Your extracirriculars are focoused on your passion for Science and math. You have good leadership in that you self-started something. The fact that you have national recognition is good too. A lot of admissions depends on un-controllable factors such as diversity, ability to pay, etc.

You are on the right track, and you should be proud of yourself!

Your chances for Cornell are strong. For the other ivys, your chances are ok. Not great, but you are definitely a legit applicant, and I won’t be surprised if you got multiple acceptances.

Thanks. Any other replies?

^You are well within the admissible range. If you have a first choice, consider applying early. if it is an ED ivy (i.e. the non-HYP ivies) the bump in chances is considerable compared to RD at those schools. if it is a SCEA ivy (i.e. HYP) the benefit from applying early is much smaller but still chances are a bit better than RD at HYP.

Thanks for replies.

If you are interested in STEM, then you shouldn’t limit yourself to Ivy League schools. Other schools such as MIT, Caltech, and Stanford are stronger at most STEM fields. Top US schools would however be a reach even with your excellent stats. With your stats some top “non US” schools such as Toronto, McGill, Waterloo or UBC would be almost safeties – if you can afford them (US schools have a higher base price, but the top ones also have good need based financial aid).

Take each Ivies acceptance rates, particularly for RD, and half it. That’s your chance as an international. Youre scores are great but admissions for internationals at ivies is uber competitive. Pm me if you want to discuss anything else.

You’re certainly competitive for the Ivy League schools, but so are the vast majority of the applicants. Really focus on explaining exactly who you are and what you want to do with your college experience with your essays, as your numbers are very similar to thousands of other applicants. Good luck.
