I am high school senior applying to Purdue University and Penn State for computer science. For Penn State, I'm applying for the fall admission but I also checked yes for the summer start option. I am from Massachusetts.

Extra-Curriculars:
Hip-hip dance for 6 years; started a dance crew with 4 of my closest friends; danced with SFC Lifestyle (Boston-based dance company); teach dance workshops to all ages (mostly college/high school students).

FIRST Robotics from Freshman-Senior year. Competed in competitions at WPI and Northeastern University. A group of 4, including myself, were on the programming team.

Science Team from Freshman-Senior year. Competed in the West Suburban Science League and the Science Olympiad. Placed fifth in the state out of 16 I believe.

Interned at Celera Networks for the summers of 2012, 2013, and 2014. Celera Networks is a computer networking company and they provide network servers for financial companies and firms in downtown Boston. They asked to have me back for the second and third summers.

UNICEF club for Junior and Senior year. My parents living through the Cambodian Genocide inspired me to join UNICEF and help kids just like them obtain essential necessities in life.

Swim team for freshman and sophomore year but I stopped because it was conflicting with my dancing. Also because I wanted to focus on school work.

Letters of recommendation comes from my AP Physics B teacher, English III teacher, and my guidance counselor. I don't know what they wrote about me but from the conversations I've had with them, they seem great.

College essay is good but not outstanding.

If there is any additional information I need to add that will help the chance, please tell me.

idk…20 percent maybe

WOW, I applied to Purdue and Penn State yesterday with SAT (480/770/560) = 1810

I don’t know about computer science major, but your GPA and SAT reaches to above mid 50% students.

Good Luck

Based on the following from Penn State’s site, I’d say you have a solid chance for Main Campus:

Middle 50% GPA & Standardized Test Range for First-year Students

High School GPA (4.0 scale)
Penn State University Park:3.55-3.97 All other campuses:3.00-3.50
Combined SAT
Penn State University Park:1750-2000 All other campuses:1460-1690
Combined ACT
Penn State University Park:26-30 All other campuses:21-25
Combined English/Writing ACT
Penn State University Park:25-30 All other campuses:19-24

Keep in mind that at Penn State, GPA is roughly 2/3s of the criteria, and standardized tests are 1/3. They don’t seem to care much about ECs.

Thanks guys! @D79R123‌ did you check for the summer option too?

Oh yeah, good luck to you too!

No idea about Purdue, but I can see Penn State happening definitely. Good luck!
