Chances for Computer Science?

Hey guys, I'm a senior in high school applying to different CS programs for Fall 2014.

My stats as of now are a 3.83 GPA (school doesn't weight) and a 29 composite ACT (33E, 33R, 22M, 28S). I'm 40th out of 204, so in the top 20%. I'm a member of National Honor Society (officer), FIRST Robotics (programmer), Business Professionals of America, church youth group, and Im a 2 year letterman in Tennis. I'll also be in-state for Indiana schools.

My schools I'm waiting to hear from are:
Purdue
New Mexico State
U South Florida
Virginia Military Institute

Chances?

You should be a high match for Purdue. The main concern is your low score in Math.

I think i may retake in October to try to help myself out there. I have all A’s in math classes I’ve taken. What about the other schools?

NMSU: Safety
Purdue: High match
USF: Low match
VMI: Low match

Does being In-State help me at all for Purdue? I can’t believe it’s almost a reach, it’s like my number one choice!

If I don’t get into CS at Purdue though, I’ll just pick a different plan of study there instead.

Not sure if being in state would help considering even though it’s public it’s not a state U. Also imo everyone’s first choice colleges should be high matches/reaches. Why have a safety as your first choice college?

The Computer Science program at Purdue is in the College of Science. With your credential, you should have no problem to be accepted into the College of Science, however, it would be very competitive to enter the CS program. For that program, I consider it as competitive as the engineering programs at Purdue. For that, your ACT is near the 25%. Again, you ACT Math score is only around national average which may hurt your chance.

BUMP any more thoughts?
