what are my chances for Rutgers :(

I currently have a GPA of a 2.9 going into senior year. this year i am working my AS* off and getting all a+'s. i am in one college class and one honors class and junior year I took 2 college classes and got a B in both. and I have taken the ACT two times. the first time I got a composite of a 20 English 17 math 19 reading 24 and science 20 and the second time I got a composite of 23 with a English of 24 math 27 reading 18 and science 22 my super score is a 25 my extra curricular activities are a varsity sport, over 100 hours of community service, in many clubs, fund raising director of one of the clubs. I am an instate student and my school is very competitive so my class rank is in the 6th percentile out of 10.

Is there anything i can do to get in i will do anything??? is there a chance for me to get in??

Rutgers seems to use a formula for admittance, so I don’t think your extra activities matter that much. Judging by what I have seen, it is SAT or ACT, GPA, and class rank. I don’t think anyone can say yes or no definitively. Apply early, apply to SAS as one of your schools, and hope for the best. If you don’t get in initially, think about doing one year at a community college, get excellent grades, and re-apply as a transfer. I know people who have done this successfully.

ADMISSIONS PROFILE

The chart below indicates the SAT scores and rank ranges for the middle 50% of those high school students admitted to Rutgers for fall 2009. 25% of our admitted students had ranks and scores below these ranges, and 25% of our admitted students had ranks and scores above these ranges.

Don’t dispair! Even if you don’t get in as a freshman, the idea of going to Community College and then transferring is a great one. The CC systems has an agreement in place to automatically admit students to RU if they have taken certain courses and with a certain GPA.

Our HS GCs stress that Rutgers should not be viewed as a safety school unless you are in the top 10-15% of the class.

Try the SATs and send them instead if you get a higher score and get the best grades you can. Also write a good essay. I think that’s all you can do at this point. Rutgers mainly looks at gpa, rank, and sat or act. You have a chance right now, but not a very good chance unless you get everything up.
