What are my chances for the most competitive schools?

Hi everyone,

I’m a junior right now and wondering about chances come senior year. Are the really up-there schools–let’s say Princeton, MIT, UChicago, and Brown–totally out of my league or do I actually have a chance if I apply? A few of my ECs might be considered unconventional, and my school does things a bit oddly sometimes, so I’m not really sure where I stand compared to most other people.

PSAT: 1500, 750 for both sections (so, likely NMS semifinalist)

Sat II: Math II 800, Physics 720

APs: Going to take French, Bio, and Calc BC this year (my school offers very few AP courses)

GPA: My school doesn’t calculate GPA, but I’ve had all As except for one A-.

Extracurriculars:
Cross country, winter running, and spring running (9,10,11)
FRC team (likely electrical subteam leader senior year) (10,11)
Computers for Kids club (11)
Ceramics–this is a big interest, did it on my own 10th grade and summer of 9th grade, founded Ceramics Club this year (9,10,11)
In the planning phases of writing a fantasy book, have been since 9th grade (9,10,11)
Film club, not leader but active participant/curator (9,10,11)
Gardening on my own time (does this even count?) (10,11)

Summer activities: 9th grade: ceramics (my teacher lent me her wheel), 10th: taking calculus 1 at UMD, 11th: not sure, maybe a novel writing workshop or another math program

In terms of course load, I’m pretty math focused–I’m taking linear algebra and advanced calc this year. I’ve also pursued an interest in visual art, with ceramics, painting, metals, and this year, figure drawing. Everything else is pretty standard. Accelerated courses where possible.

Thanks for taking the time to read! I’ll chance back if you want me to.

*Oh, and I’m a white male. Family income is ~$100,000, but my parents are divorced and definitely struggling economically.

@Frigiderm, your stats are impressive and you will definitely have some great options. There are so many kids with great stats that you need more to take you to the front of the top top schools line-like having discovered a cure for cancer. It helps if you have a hook such as being an underrepresented minority, a first generation college student, having won an international science competition or being a recruited athlete.

Bump?
