What Are My Chances For The Top Schools?

Hi, I’m a sophomore in my high school, and I know it’s a little early but I would like to know my chances of getting into a school like Berkeley or Rice University…my parents want me to consider Ivies too, but I honestly don’t think I can make it that far. Anyways, here’s some of my information:

Moved from California to Texas and transferred schools for sophomore year.

-Taking one AP class (AP Human Geography)
-Three Honors Classes (English, Chemistry, Algebra II)
-Four Regular Classes (Spanish I, Medical Terminology, Principles of Health Science, JV Choir)

GPA (calculated online): 4.52

ECs:
-Winterguard
-Student Council
-Destination Imagination (President)
-LEO Club
-Volunteered @ a hospital as a freshman for 100 hours.

PSAT Score: 1240

Next year I’m planning to take 3 APs and 2 Honors, as well as Choir, Winterguard, and another Medical class.

I hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance!!

It is too early to chance. You need SAT/ACT scores to make it even somewhat a reasonable guess. That said, Ivies, and also Berkley and Rice are reaches for any applicant regardless of stats and should be consider as such. Look for match and solid safeties when you have more information. In the meantime, if you are really looking to gun for those level of schools, work on practice tests for SAT/ACT. You’ll need 1500/34+ to be competitive.

Thank you for the advice!

You should be okay as long as you bring up the SAT score and keep doing what you are doing

You need an SAT/ACT score for a chance.

Berkeley will not give you any financial aid as you are now out of state. Look up the tuition rates and talk to your parents to see if this is affordable. No sense spending the next two years with your heart set on one school if you can know right now whether or not it is in your budget.

Class rank is the most important factor for Texas public universities.

If you do go to medical school, Texas residency is good to have, due to the relatively low cost of Texas public medical schools. Attending a Texas undergraduate school would make travel to medical schools for interviews easier.

I’d probably start working on standardized testing. If you maintain your grades, you should have a good shot!

Please note that schools such as Rice are not easier to get in than Ivy League schools such as Cornell.
yea it really just depends on ur standardized test score to chance ya
