What are my Chances for these schools? 3.98 GPA

I applied ED NYU Stern for the BPE Program and my decision letter still has yet to come
I think that I was rejected so I'm looking at other schools

My mother pressured me to be the "classical asian" and go for the business school

I think I really want to minor in Business and do a lot of traveling and go for a classics major and something that involves journalism and international relations so if I don't get into Stern, I want to apply as a transfer for Gallatin/CAS next year

Your SAT could have been better, same for grades but still very good!

Chance me!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/829825-chance-me-please-i-will-chance-back.html

I’ve chanced you only for the schools i’m familiar with. These chances are for the business schools, b/c for a lot of these universities their business and overall admissions stats are very different.

Brown University - Reach (i hear you must pass through gen ed. then they sort you out into majors but don’t quote me!)
Carnegie Mellon University - Reach
Duke University - Reach
Emory University - Match!
Northwestern - Reach
University of Chicago - Reach (Uchicago is very number orientated)
University of Pennsylvania - V. High reach (wharton is superrr hard)

unfortunately I think your SAT is the reason why I conservatively placed many of your college picks as Reaches. Despite perhaps amazing essays and amazing letters of rec… I think you must pass the stats barrier to fully secure yourself as a shoe-in candidate.

I cannot tell yet…
I have to rewrite my Essays because I originally wrote about how facebook is corrupting society but I know it was really long and I did too much research for it that it wasn’t personal enough

I only took the SATs once and I hated them, but you’re right, they are low that it makes my schools reaches… rolls eyes

but if you were to chance me for Arts and Sciences? because i feel that I’m more likely to apply for those school to satisfy the “classics” major that I really want and i can double in economics or something… right?

good luck with everything!

Thanks emmers!

wow impressive!
Uchicago is a definite match i d say
tufts is really hard
upenn even harder

upon closer look i didn’t read you post thoroughly…

LAS chance time now…
Brown University - Reach (same as before)
Carnegie Mellon University - Reach
Duke University - low-Mid Reach
Emory University - Match!
Northwestern - Low Reach (< more of a match if your essays are good and if you explain your test scores and varied grade fluctuation etc.)
University of Chicago - match/low reach
University of Pennsylvania - reach

hopefully that helps… and if you take the sat again goodluck!

Thanks guys!
hm, I Don’t know if i have time*to retake the SAT but I want to try

bumpppppppp

Penguin, this is a absurd chancing. Brown is a very high reach, if not an impossible reach, for her.

for the record
I got into NYU Stern… So … i suppose you can disregard this post

and silverturtle… be positive and less derogatory in your posts please? there are nicer ways of telling the truth… though i respect your blunt honesty

congrats!!!

too offset the minor abrasiveness of the poster above. I think brown is definitely a reach… but it’s doable… with those SAT scores of course.

you said…
[[hm, I Don’t know if i have time*to retake the SAT but I want to try]] - sry idk how to quote text haha!

REGISTER FOR THE JANUARY SAT! it can’t hurt you because for all of your schools above you can choose to selectively send scores :)… I think the register date has passed. BUt for sure use the “walk on option”

sorry for pushing the SAT’s so hard but i really want all of my CC peers to do well :)

Euphemisms quickly turn into misconceptions, which harmfully and inevitably proliferate, on this forum. I made the call that you’d prefer something unambiguous to the standard “Your stats look great, but the Ivies are reaches for everyone.”

I didn’t, though, mean to be derogatory and wasn’t aware that you only wanted positive comments.

Anyhow, congratulations on the acceptance.
