Some feedback on my personal situation would be greatly appreciated.
I am hoping to transfer to a number of universities from community college. I hope to transfer into the Chemical Engineering programs at these schools in Fall '18 (descending order of desire):
- UW Madison
- University of Minnesota TC
- UT Austin
- Texas A&M
- University of Michigan
- University of Delaware
- Purdue
- University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- University of Illinois - Chicago
- Illinois Institute of Technology
Here’s some relevant background on me:
- Illinois resident
- White male
- 26 years old
- Graduated HS in 2009. Did not do well in high school, but not because of a lack of ability. I did not do well because I simply did not do the work (partied too often).
- 24 on ACT taken in 2007.
- Started attending community college Fall '15
- Have taken a consistent rigorous course load that matches freshman/sophomore course loads at the universities I listed above (minus any ChemE courses because my community college does not offer any).
- Current overall GPA is 3.63 and expected to rise (hopefully).
These are the pertinent technical courses I’ve taken, am currently in, or will be taking and the grades I’ve received/expect:
Calc I – A
Calc II – A
Currently in Calc III – expected A
Intro to Diff Eq will be taken Fall '17
General Chemistry I – B
General Chemistry II – A
Currently in Intro Organic Chemistry – expected A
Intro Organic Chemistry II will be taken Summer '17
Computer Science I – A
Physics for Sci/Eng I (Mechanics) – C
Currently in Physics for Sci/Eng II (Elec/Mag) – expected B
Physics for Sci/Eng III (Optics/Modern physics) will be taken Spring '18
All of the social science/arts/rhetoric courses I’ve taken I’ve received an A.
Anyone who can share their experiences with successfully or unsuccessfully transferring into any of the engineering programs at the schools I’ve listed, or even one’s I haven’t listed, would be greatly appreciated. Please give me your opinion on what my chances are for getting into any of these schools. Also any tips on what I should do when the time comes to start applying to these schools. Thank you very much
