Hi, I am currently a senior in high school and finally started to write my college apps >:D<
I am an Asian boy that lives in California so I am mostly only considering applying to UCs for their price…
The UCs that I am applying for UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCI, UCSD and UC Davis
So, here are my stats…
unweighted gpa: 3.96
weighted gpa: 4.33
act score: 36
AP taken and their scores: AP statistics 5, AP computer science 4, AP chemistry 4
Sat Subject Tests: Math 2 780, Chemistry 750
I did not take the most rigorous courses in our school because I just came to America as a freshman in high school, so I really did not know how the systems worked until my junior year. (I explained these kind of stuffs in my essays)
I have served as vice president of our community service club for 4 years, taught young kids in a camp during summers and played few school sports. Also I have won a math modeling competition and participated in few robotics competition in UC Davis.
I am thinking of applying as either computer science or statistics major. The people around me tell me that computer science is way too competitive and therefore I should apply as a statistics major instead… I am passionate and interested in both of the fields just don’t know what the wise choice is.
Do any of your college experts think I have a decent chance in these rigorous schools?
