What are my chances for UCSB and UCI.

Hi I'm an in state high school senior. I applied as a biology major and have been waitlisted to Santa Cruz and rejected from Davis and San Diego.

My unweighted GPA is 3.667
My weighted GPA is a 3.9167
My ECs: I volunteered at the hospital for the last two years every week for 3.5 hours and also participated in Interact club where I am very active and received Event Coordinator this year.

100%. I believe in you, Jimmy Newen.

Bumping this up.

How about SAT or ACT scores? I’ve been looking through a lot of the UC threads, and it seems that this year, the admissions might have placed a higher emphasis on GPA over test scores though.

Also, besides volunteering at the hospital, do you have any other EC’s? How about leadership positions?

My Sat score is a 1830
ACT comp was a 28
ACT english 23 Math 32 reading 26 science 30

My only other leadership position is event coordinator for my club

I believe I have around 300-400 hours of service hours

I hear bio is pretty difficult at UCI. I’m not too sure about SB though, but as it’s that type science, it’s probably not too easy to get into there either. your 30 in science is really good!

You’re lacking a bit on the EC’s. You’re hours are not bad, but I think a wider range of activities might help. But, hey, it’s 300-400 hours with a couple of EC’s, so they might look at it as you’re very dedicated towards one thing :P

I think you have a shot at UCI/UCSB, but it might be a bit of a low reach/high match
