instate?
if yes, then you should be okay.
If OOS, it depends on the day the admissions committee has had.
Yes, instate. UC Davis is only an hour away from my home. Is there anything I can do this summer to increase my chances?
Match. Just continue doing what you have been doing all long and spend time on writing your essays this summer to give a head start. Also start asking teachers for letters of recommendation just in case they are needed.
I’m gonna be applying for a bio major. Does that affect my chances at all?
My dd goes to Davis. This year, she is graduating with 1000 bio majors. Most of her classmates want to be “doctors” and are/were studying for the MCAT’s this month.
Does it affect your chances, no.
Does it affect your competitiveness, yes. You need to be on the honor roll non-stop.
I was in honors english my first two yesrs of high school, then switched to three AP courses my junior year
No, I meant on the Dean’s List at the college for all 4 years. . . . sorry, my mistake.
Oh, haha. Thanks for clearing it up. I just hope I can land in at least one UC. From my perspective it looks impossible for me
@ushera303 I don’t know what you mean it looks impossible from your perspective.
I would say UCM, UCR, UCSC are safeties. UCI, UCSB, UCD are match. UCSD is high match.
Your chances are good. My UC GPA was a 3.97 or something like that (with the 6 semester AP cap thing) and I got into the engineering program. Biology is less competative, so I think youll get in. I got in through the waitlist though.
@iamjack I’ve been starting feel nervousness with applying to UCs. Everytime I look at my stats and EC’s I feel like they’re not enough. That’s why it seems impossible. Your comment helped though, thanks.
@ushera303 yeah, my EC’s were pretty bad too. that’s why I got into lower schools than my peers with the same stats. all i had was a small tutoring job and a volunteering position at a hospital. thats pretty much it.
pm me if you need anything.
I would say you are a match for UC Davis. You have a great GPA and ACT score. Make sure you spend time on your essays, they put a lot of weight on them. They are not just looking for great stats.
This years I got into UCD’s biotechnology program with 1610 SAT and 4.14 UC GPA.
