What are my chances for (UCSD/UCLA/UC Davis/few other UC's)

Im still in my sophomore year but i'm planning ahead and i really need to know if i have a chance at one of the schools listed in the title.

Freshman year first semester:

Weighted GPA 4.1

Second Semester: Weighted GPA 4.0

Sophomore first semester: Weighter GPA 4.5
Honors Chem
Honors Eng
Honors Alg 2
Ap Euro
Spanish 6

Just started second semester.

EC's:
Basketball 6 years (not in school though)
Church Help
Dentist Office
250+ Community Service Hours
Can get letter of recommendation from 3 people, 1 a counselor.

Can post classes fresh classes if needed.

you need to give some test scores before i can accuratly assess your chances

btw please do a favor for your self and dont plan ahead. for me it has become a habit and havent been able to sleep some nights thinking about colleges and how im going to get rejected.

Well i haven’t took any of the big tests yet…soo by grades what are the chances…

Also im top 3 % of my class.

well if you keep your grades up and you end up ELC (Top 4% in class) and even if you get horrible test scores you will get into every single uc on you list except probably ucla, ucb, and if you tests and really bad you wont get into ucsd. what you will see in the link below is that once you are ELC you have a great chance to get into every UC. for example ucb has a 66% acceptance rate for ELC students

Really? Because i tend to have high grades, but when a big test like SAT comes up/i’ve taken PSAT i just mess up cause of nerves…My dream is UCSD and UCLA? How big of a reach is that ?

they not not huge reaches at all. UCSD has a 85% acceptance rate for ELC students so you should be fine. As for UCLA it is the Hardest uc to get into and the most popular school in America but for ELC it has a 60% rate. you just need to practice the tests. say to your self the world wont end if i dont do well on this test. i started with a 1720 SAT which sucks for the schools i wanna getr into. but through practice i got to a 2210.

heres what i did after i got the 1720:

 1. signed up for 2 more SAT test (college board predicts a 50-200 pt. improvement with every attempt.
 2. after two tests i got to 1920 which was JAN. my junior year. so then i bought cracking the SAT by princeton.
 3. after two months of studying i got a 2050 which is a 130 pts. imprvement in 2 months.
 4. now this is where it got interesting: i took the Sat again in June because may was for my subject tests and ap tests and i got a 2050. i felt very demoralized and thinking that i should stop taking it and that i have reached my limit. until i visited uc berkeley in the summer and i suddenly got very motivated to do well. there i talked to an admissions rep and he said for me to have a good chance at berkeley i need to get a 2200+ because i only have a 4.125 gpa and berkeley average is like a 4.35.
 5. so i enrolled in a classroom course that cost roughly $1250 (i worked for it, i am not a spolied rich kid). it was great i improved 110 pts. to 2160.
 6. one thing i noticed was that my essay wasnt the best because i always get 8’s. so i practiced good writing stratgies and practiced the writing section in general.
 7. then it happened in october i acheived a 2210 on the SAT 760 Math, 750 Reading, and 700 Writing (10 Essay).

so now im praying i get into UC berkeley

You seem to be right on track and if you keep going at this rate none of the UCs will be a high reach, just remember not to slack off from here because UCs typically don’t take your freshman year into consideration while looking at your app.

Surgeon, where did that admissions rep get a 4.35 GPA from? According to their freshman admissions their average incoming GPA was a 4.15.

zugbert: your right 4.15 is the average uc gpa. the average weighted gpa is around 4.35
