I am really interested in USC and am going to apply early decision. I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 3.9 weighted GPA. I got a 30 on my ACT and am not planning on taking the SAT. My ec's are my job and baseball. I work 20 hours a week and work throughout the summer and play baseball in the summer. I am also involved in the schools business club and was involved in student government last year. What are my chances? Also, if you got accepted into USC, what were your grades? Thanks

your ACT looks pretty good and early decision will probably help you. it really depends on what classes you took or are taking right now. i’m guessing you are a junior and your junior grades are going to be extremely important since you are applying early decision. USC won’t see your senior grades when looking at your application. the val of my school got in and she took AP Biology, APUSH, AP Calculus, AP English and Composition, Spanish III, and Journalism. She got straight A’s all throughout high school. she’s going to dartmouth.

USC does not have an early decision program. If you apply by December 1st you will be considered for all available scholarships, beyond that there is no separate admissions process. See the last paragraph of:

Compared to the admitted freshman class of 2009, your GPA is somewhat below the average and your ACT is around the 25th%-tile. To my way of thinking this makes USC a (low) reach for you - not impossible, but your essays and ECs are going to have to make up for the lower statistics.

Check out the USC Forum here at CC. There is an accept/deny thread where people have listed their results. There are people with lower stats than you who were accepted as well as people with higher stats who were rejected. It’s hard to feel very comfortable about your chances; I’d add some safety schools to your list.
