What are my chances for UT-Austin?

Hi, I’m from Michigan and want to major in either MIS at McCombs or Computer Science at Cockrell.

Background: First gen college student, lower-middle class, half-Asian, half-URM
GPA: 3.4W (went to a competitive high school, class rank is top 10 percent)
SAT score: 1870 (670 math, 600 reading, 600 writing)

I currently have a 3.8W GPA in my senior year

You’re scores are low but you may be pleasantly surprised. Go for it! Only problem is UT by law only accepts 7% out of state students and 2% international students so it’s very competitive. Also, just FYI scholarship dollars for out of state students are extremely scarce…practically non-existent which stinks. Out of state tuition is pricey.

Scores are on the low side but I don’t see it as an impossibility.

I used to live in Michigan too, why not apply for University of Michigan? Ross is a very good business school and Engineering at Michigan is pretty top notch as well. I’m actually considering going back there as well for one of my choices.
