Hi everyone,
I am currently a student at NVCC and I started in the fall of 2013. I have been here for 5 semesters so far, took two sessions of a summer classes in 2014. I am a computer engineering major,was straight A student, and had a 3.96 GPA (B in History). However, last semester, I was devastated because I got a D in my vector calculus class. A relative in my family died, due to which I had to skip one of my exams. My teacher never accommodated m for it and gave me a straight up 0. Because of that, I lost 25% of my grade and got a D. I have never felt so devastated. I felt like all my hard work for four semesters was for nothing. This semester, I’ll be applying for the fall. I got A’s in all my other classes that semester, and I have one W on my transcript. Since I won’t be going under guaranteed admissions now, what are my chances of getting in to UVa or VTech? This semester, I’m taking PHY232, differentials, vector calc again, and two other classes to finish my degree. I am VERY hopeless, and extremely negative. Am I doing the right thing by bringing myself down so much? I feel like I’ll get into neither of the two and will likely end up as a failure. I’d really appreciate some advice, or just some honest opinions. Thank you!
