I can write a strong essay about moving twice during high school

Stop taking the ACT so many times (or rather you shouldn’t have taken it so often). It seems like test prep and testing should be an extracurricular for you.

But nice upward trend in grades. How many AP courses does your school offer? Are you taking a significant amount of those?

ECs are good but not overwhelmingly so; they’re what’s expected from a decent Vandy app, no more, no less. Being from Wyoming should help you though.

Low reach.

you literally have no chance with a 179 psat

Would you recommend trying the SAT in October? I just moved back to Northern Virginia and am taking 3 during my senior year. I did 2 junior year and one sophomore year. I’m also doing 1 honors course at Virginia. I’m a legal Wyoming resident though. do you think that could be helpful? thanks! @callmejon

Your grades are fine, but those test scores probably won’t be competitive at Vanderbilt. Their 25th percentile composite ACT score is 32.

I suggest exploring test-optional colleges, since standardized tests appear to be your weakest element.

Unfortunately Vanderbilt is one of the annoying schools that values test scores more than almost anything else. Vanderbilt has recently been working to boost its average act scores to more closely compete with Ivy League universities from a statistical standpoint. They have really only been accepting students with ACT scores of over 32ish. So unfortunately, although your extracurriculars, especially writing, are strong, I really don’t thing you stand a competitive chance due to your low test scores. Good luck though!

should i submit all of my ACT scores? or would that look bad? i’m hoping to take it once more and get some of my subscores up a bit but would vanderbilt, or any school, look down on submitting 3 or 4 rounds of the ACT?

All of your ACT scores are the same (27), with the same ugly duckling (science) what do you think sending multiple will do? You should have been working more on the science section.

They’re telling you that Vandy uncommonly selects someone below 32

Wake Forest is a good Test Optional school
What other schools are on your list

I just didn’t know if schools would want to see all of my scores… I’m planning to apply to University of North Carolina Asheville, Davidson, Belmont, and Centre College. I’m also thinking about Furman, Emory, Samford, University of Denver, and CU Boulder. Tulane and Colorado School of Mines are sending me free applications without the essays so I will probably put in at those two schools as well.
