Chances for Oberlin

<p>Chances for Vanderbilt? </p>

<p>Female Middle Class Native American/Mexican
SAT I: 760 CR, 640 M, 670 W (Retaking)
SAT II: Haven't taken them yet, but I'll be taking Math and Spanish Language.
AP: (Spanish Lang: 4) will be taking Calc, Chem, English, and Psych next year.</p>

Notes on my school: A public, lower tier school in Oregon. We also don't rank. I know I'm in at least the top 7% though. </p>

<p>Community Service/Leadership: Over 560 hours total. Four years of Leadership, Secretary of Key Club. Service offered to organizations including Toys for Tots (40 hours), Tutoring (160 hours), Local Children's Camp (120 Hours), Office Aide (180 hours), County Government Volunteering (40 hours).</p>

<p>Extra Curriculars: School String Quartet, VP of Book Club, NHS, Spanish Speaking Club Co-President.</p>

<p>Teacher Recommendations: I'm guaranteed at least 3 teachers who would give great recommendations. One of them wrote a recommendation that actually got my sister into vanderbilt. </p>

<p>Intended Major: Neuroscience.</p>

<p>Hmm....i don't think your chances will be helped by the fact that your post is all about Vanderbilt....</p>

<p>copy/pasting? niiice.....just make sure when you apply, you write a "why Oberlin" essay, not a "why Vanderbuilt" one.</p>

<p>Oh my god, seriously you guys, I'm really embarrassed at this. I don't know how to edit it though! And retyping this whole thing takes a long time!</p>

<p>Regardless of the mistake, I think you have a great shot at Oberlin.</p>

<p>My impression is that a number of Vanderbilt applicants might have some trouble with the "Why Oberlin" essay. Hopefully you will be able to articulate a coherent, plausible reason why you want to attend Oberlin. This will help IMO.</p>

<p>But I am by no means an expert on admissions.</p>
