Pleaseeeeee respond!!

A lot of admissions standards is demographics, so if they need more Hispanic students you have a better shot at getting in. If you were white, you would be denied immediately. Are you out of state?

Oh okay thanks! And yes I’m out of state. I live in Connecticut

@amyfrance I doubt you will get accepted. You would be well below average for schools like Sacred Heart, Fairfield, Scranton, St. Bonaventure, which are all around a 25-26 ACT.

Villanova is probably around a 28 ACT.

Being Hispanic won’t help in this case. An ACT of 18 suggests you are not ready for college.

The business program at Villanova is harder to get into than arts and they will look for a rigorous hs math program, so you will have a better shot by not applying to business. But overall you are not a competitive candidate due to your low test scores. You should retake the SAT or ACT in Jan. If you can’t raise those scores significantly, look for test optional schools to apply to as your gpa is good.

Hello, friend! Here’s something that may be a bit of help.

The only thing I can see that can severely hurt you is your 1330 for your SAT that’s pretty low compared to most applicants, I’m sure. Try retaking it! Also try to fit in more clubs, rather than very minimal job experiences. Hope I helped with anything!

Is there anything else I can do to make my application competitive?

@amyfrance To be honest you need to apply to Test Optional schools because your GPA looks good.

Schools like Villanova are Scranton, Fairfield, St. Michael’s, St. Anselm and Siena. These are all Test Optional and extremely nice schools.

St. Michael’s and Scranton are my favorites but the others are great as well.

Would it be a choice to apply to George Washington University because it’s a test optional school?

@amyfrance Sure, I assumed you wanted other Catholic school choices since Villanova is Catholic.

You could even try Muhlenberg, Gettsyburg and St. Lawrence.

Based on your test scores, don’t take too much risk applying even to test optional schools. That might sound like a contradiction but the test scores are saying something. Be realistic.
