I've been on the fence on applying... kinda the last days since the deadline is Jan. 15th. Nevertheless, I'm a black male and currently a high school senior. My G.P.A. is a 3.16. I'm in the top third of my class. My SAT scores were 1310 which is kinda low to me, just including Verbal and math would be 930. I've did several community service projects in the Leo's club, Red Cross and at the Voting Poll . I've been in Concert,Symphonic and Marching band all 4 years of high school and currently the Drum Major of the Marching band. I also got the leading role in my school play my junior year (I don't know if that helps in the application process lol) So what are my chances?!

Hmmm, no feedback?

I would say because of your sat scores jmu will be a reach for you. Your gpa is on the low side but would still work. Your sat scores would need to be at least 300 points higher to have a decent chance of acceptance. Being a urm should help a little but not much. Hopefully you are instate because that would give you a better chance. If you liked jmu I don’t see a reason fir you bot to apply because you have almost nothing to lose but much to gain if accepted. If you have a chance retake the SATs and try the Act. Goodluck and merry Christmas.

Thanks for taking the time to answering my questions, opinions are always helpful! :)

As invader71 said, you need to improve your SAT, or try ACT if you could. You seem to have good ECs and your GPA is within range. Concentrate on SAT and/or ACT.
