Hii everyonee! I'm currently a junior right and want to attend at least one of the UCs: San Diego, Irvine, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Davis or possibly even LA and Berkley. I got one C for pre cal honors this year, and possibly again this semester. I want to major in cognitive science or education. What are my chances?

Current UC GPA: 3.72 <- i plan to raise it to around 3.8
UW: 3.68
SAT: 1400, i plan to raise to 1800 by the time i submit my applications.
ACT: taking it this June
200+ hours community service

Extra Curriculars:
Red Cross- Secretary
SAVE- All Chapters Coordinator (2 times)
Fishing Club- Historian
Library Teen Advisory Club: Secretary
NHS
FBLA
JSA

I have received a few awards.

No sports, but possibly tennis this summer.

The UC admissions this year were very focused on GPA vs. test scores. GPA 4.0+ for the majority of the UC’s and at least a 1900 SAT. It also depends upon your major.
UCSC: Match
UCD/UCSB/UCI: Low Reach
UCLA/UCB: Reach
I would add UCR and some Cal States such as CPP, SDSU, CSUF and/or CSULB as Safeties/Matches. Good Luck.

UCSD: Reach
UCI: Reach
UCSB: Reach
UCSC: Match
UCD: Reach
UCLA: High Reach
UCB: High Reach

Gotta raise the SAT/ACT and the GPA, as well as get involved in some sports or something!
Despite that, though, I think UCSC would be a great fit for u :)

It’s really difficult to to tell. Try getting straight A’s and start working on your personal statements. If you show acedemic improvment, raise your SAT scores, and have two solid personal statements, then I believe you have a shot at any UC.
I started of really bad my freshman year (straight C’s, 2 D’s, and no extracurricular activities). But finished off very well my senior year ( straight A’s on 4 AP classes and a college class). I got into top UC’s: Santa Barbara, Davis, LA, Berkeley.
I have a friend who did very well her first 3 years but not as well her senior year. She did sports all 4 years, was involved in many things in school, ect. She applied to the same schools as I did and was denied to all except UCLA (her first choice so she was happy).
In general the hollistic review makes it difficult to tell whether or not you’ll get accepted. But when you apply, make sure to use the “extra comments” section to address any weaknesses in your application ( I addressed my poor acedemics in 9th and 10th grade). Also highlight key things such as talents or things you are commited to ( I’ve played guitar for 7 years and mentioned that I’ve been teaching for 4 years). And if you recieve a questionare after you’ve applied, take some time to do it!
I hope this post was helpfull and if you have any questions or want to know any more tips feel free to ask (:
