What are my chances, HELP PLEASe

First of all, my stats are not great, unlike every other person on this website.

I'm very confident that i can get into Penn State-University Park, so that's my safety. U of Pitt, is my extreme safety.
I'm also looking at U of Virginia, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, UNC-main campus, haha Penn (i think there's a better chance that i get struck by lightning).

I am curently a junior

GPA: 3.63 unweighted

I go to an extremely competitive school in Pittsburgh, PA

SATs: 1790 (M-800, Cr-500, W-510) i am very confident that i can get my cr to a 600 and my w to a 600 when i take it again in june, which would be a 1400, and 2000

No ACT yet
No SAT IIs yet

In my school, students are generally allowed to take AP in Junior year (would be an elective because we have other requirements like Honors Physics, etc)

I'm taking AP Chemistry and Calc BC this year, but i didn't take either of the AP tests. tell me what you think about me not taking the ap tests.

Senior Schedule: reg english, Advanced Math Topics (at my school it's more dvanced than calc bc), AP Physics, Honors French, Advanced Architecture, Regular American history

ECS

i know, a lot of them are crap.

That’s only a few of my ECs from my resume, what do u guys think, any advice or comments is helpful, Thanks!

Your CR needs to be higher. And higher than a 600. It needs to be 650ish. Even if you're going to school for math/science. Less than that and it looks like you can't read...I mean in comparison to the rest of the applicant pool.

i'm a junior, so when i have a 12 next to the ECs, it's projected. Also, besides PSU and pitt, tell me what you think of the other schools i'm thinking about, are they out of my range? and i'm really curious about the AP test situation, are colleges nto going to like that i didnt take the tests?

if you raise your CR SAT scores then you'd have prob a 30-40% chance of UVA, NW, UNC-maybe less of a chance for all three for penn (prob a 5-10%), also why take the class if you dont take the SAT 2 or AP test- im not sure what colleges would think though

haha broski, take ap tests for ur ap classes and take sat IIs for math cuz ur good at it,

It looks bad if you don't take the tests. Basically. It puts your grade in that class under scrutiny. An AP allows them to judge you against the entire applicant pool. The only reasons not to take the test are a) money (and lots of schools will pay as part of an incentive program) b) laziness (also bad) or c) you know you won't do well.

None of those is good.

ya then they will think that the school gives out easy grades for AP, which brings ur grades to a lower standard

****, thats not what i wanted to hear, but thanks for being honest

the schools you are looking at are very tough to get into (the ones that you aren't considering as safeties.) you'll probably have to raise your uw gpa a lot and especially your cr. uva and unc are killer for oos.

do you guys think i should start looking at schools a notch down from what i listed above? any suggestions of school you think would be a good match school for me?

??^^^^^^^??

bump bump bump

i could use some answers please. thanks homies

Most of your schools do appear to be big reaches unless your school is so competitive your 3.6 puts you in the top 5%. Even then they would be big reaches unless you raise your SATs to over 2100. So yes, I think you need a list with more matches and safe schools.

bum bump comments please, thanks bros

I would not call Pitt a safety. Your SAT and GPA are below average. Your ECs give you a good bump. So I would call Pitt a match at best. Definately not a safety. UVa, NW, Carnegie Mellon, UNC, and Penn are all reaches.

At CB, it says the middle 50% at pitt is CR 560-660 and M 560-660. my current scores are 800 M and500 CR, but i can get the CR up to around a 600 i think. i couldnt find the avg gpa. i agree that all the others are reaches.

lee have u been studyin alot for the SATS this june?

a little, i gotta bring the cr score up so colleges dont think im illiterate
