hey
I am a Junior this year - in state- and i hope to get in UW…
I have moved 3 times from my dads job, different states - twice in HS
My classes arent the hardest: with APs (1): AP Gov
I took Honors LA and Honors SS in 9th grade, and Honors Biology in 10th grade. Also, ALgebra 2 HONORS…
Rest of the classes are all regular easy classes.
My GPA for 9th grade was 3.6 1st sem and 3.7 second semseter.
In 10th grade, it somewhat improved to a 3.7ish for both, but sh*t got complicated with me moving mid-year…
For my SATs… i havent taken it yet, but i have taken my PSAT… with a 1680 (fail), but I am taking SAT training classes once a week (3 hours each week, 1 hour on each subject). Also, just curious, how much would the average smartish guy improve his score from 1680 after these classes?
For my extracurriculars, I hardly do anything at all lol… im in Math and Chess club, but i dont even particiapte in tournaments or contests, and im not a leadership psoition… so prob worthless lol
Also, i dont really do much at all besides gaming lol… except i have 2 jobs…
i want to know my chances for UW! and BE HONEST… if u think im a fail. TELL ME PLEASE! :D!!!
thx ill do urs back
oh sh*t forgot to include my next years classes: Regular Physics, Precalculus (im in alg 3 this year), Spanish 3, Regular LA, Regular SS, and PE
University of Washington is a decently selective school. Over 60% of all applicants have an unweighted GPA of 3.75+ out of 4. The campus’s average SAT is an 1880. I’d say if you would try a tiny bit more and get your GPA as close to 3.75 and get your SAT into the 1800 - 1900 range, you’d have a good shot of getting in. Also try to participating in more school clubs and do more volunteering. Colleges love that!
ahh thanks for the reply! anything u want me to reply to bro?
haha, that’s awesome that you’re thinking ahead! It’s like CEO Sandeep said, if you tried a little bit more, you will increase your chances of getting into UoW. Right now, it seems 50/50. But, that’s ok. You are a junior and you have time to boost your GPA and get the right SAT score (or even higher). Btw, If I were in your situation, I would take some time to think about these questions: Who am I? What events shaped me? what have I learned from any cultural experiences? I give you these questions to think about because if you think about them, it will help with the essay part of your application.
as for the “how much would the average smartish guy improve his score from 1680 after these classes?”
Usually, the idea is that the score should increase but don’t bank on that. SAT is measure of how well you can test, NOT a measure of how smart you are. But, you are taking SAT lessons which in my opinion is better because those lessons should help you understand the patterns of the SAT.
like i said, you have room to grow. If you’re dedicated, you can improve your current chances by a good amount. Best of luck to you!
*tip: try to find other ECs to be involved in; it really does help!.
*correction:
when you asked “how much would the average smartish guy improve his score from 1680 after these classes?”
i completely misread (oops) and gave some confusing information. I apologize for that. Anyway, if you are taking those SAT CLASSES, then you SHOULD IMPROVE by a good margin depending on well they prepare you. Assuming that they are preparing you well, then your score could increase by 200-300 points. But, that’s all in theory. Just work hard and give it your all.
other than that, sorry for the confusing info, and once again, good luck!
